Since we know that Jake was former USMC what's the possibility of his old CO or someone he served with on earth being sent to wage war against the Na'vi. Could make for some pretty interesting loyalty clashes. Thoughts?

yeah, if the humans want extreme revenge i could possibly see there being nukes, but i do like your idea, it would add a little bit of a personal note to the movie
I'm not sure but I think the RDA, who have the monopoly on both force and space faring technology are strictly prohibited from using any weapons of mass destruction.
Of course that what I've just said could be seen as a contradiction, since we all saw the RDA allow Quaritch use the Shuttle to try and deploy mining explosives...but, they were mining charges, not weapons designed for the purpose of utter anhialation.
So using Nukes would be a no.
In fact, in reality as some of you lot will be aware, the use of Nuclear Weapons in space are already prohbited...which in itself is ironic since using nukes on Earth would be far far more dangerous than in space...but hey...that's politics (poly-tics).
Nukes in space would be a thousand times more dangerous. Accidents happen, and accidents in space, become accidents on the ground very fast.
Hoorah bitches. Hoo-f*cking-rah!

probably why they are banned in space....although watching a 2 and a half long movie of humans on ships systematically bombarding the surface of an alien world the same size as Earth to erradicate the entire biosphere both would be extremely boring and very very bad taste....beside, who would be that dispicable enough to want to Nuke every square KM of a planet unto the cusp of the burning fires of hell?
That would be considered bad PR according to the RDA. Besides, using nukes? That's so Aliens. We're talking Avatar here.
It means "Wind Rider" in Na'vi.
