There's been a nagging thought in my head as of late and that is a line that Quaritch speaks after meeting with Jake after he successfully intergrates into the Omaticaya Clan. Quaritch tells Jake that he wishes he had "10 more like" him. That interests me, since it could be a clue about the sequal.

Could there be, in the sequal, a group of Marine/Navy SEAL Avatars sent to Pandora? Not going to speculate much on what they would be doing there, but it interests me if the RDA would allow such a thing to happen.

Hi Hufwe. Humanity take such a wonderful advanced technology and subvert it into a weapon? That would NEVER happen.. My question is more along the lines of how much of a role will "Avatars" (and avatar drivers) play in the sequels? Do you think they will continue to play a central pivital role in the plot? Will everyone on pandora be "driving" an Avatar around like they were hyundais? I kind of hope not. Seems to me they need to use a light touch with this or its going to come off something like "stargate" where they hop from gate to gate like they were using the elevator.

Cameron has noted that there wouldn't be need to call the sequal Avatar 2... So I think there won't be avatars in the traditional sense that they are driven, rather avatars in the sense that they are a totally new species on Pandora.

As for "wonderful advanced technology", well, that didn't stop Quaritch from using it to infiltrate a Na'vi clan. I was thinking on the lines of create a small commando unit possibly the take back Pandora using Marines that have been pyshcologly exaimined (maybe they thought Jake went crazy or something), to infiltrate and subjugate Na'vi Clans.

I also wrote this noting that Cameron mentioned that the sequal would be "full-blown war" or something on that level. My guess is that we'll be seeing Avatar Marines, since unlike SECFOR troopers they wouldn't need to rely on breathing masks, they are designed and trained to deal with the Pandoran environment, they could easily infiltrate the Na'vi clans, and they would be a match for the Na'vi, all in the RDA way of thinking of course (even though I'm pro-Na'vi). If Jake could do it, why not have the RDA use that "wonderful technology" for their own gains... Say take back a moon with the only source of "unobtainium" in the universe?

And yes, I know you where being sarcastic in the first part...

My appologies HufweMakto my sarcasm was ment towards the human race in general and not you or your premise in particular. You make a valid point that the RDA might assume the use of Avatars will provide them with an advantage in any future confrontation with the Navii. But do you think it will be all that easy to pull off? My point is that sure the RDA would only send the badest of the bad in as Avatars ( It would be expensive & take several years) but isn't that what Quaritch was? And he almost got his *** killed his first day on planet. The only reason Jake survived on Pandora was initialy dumb luck and fast reflex's but the only reason he survived for any length of time on Pandora at all was because of Neytiri & a whole tribe of navii teaching him the way of the people. I have a vision of the RDA inserting a team of elite "Avatar Rangers" into pandora and them surviving maybe 15 minutes till they run out of bullets (cut to secene of bush's waving wildly, machinegun fire, bloddcurdling screams, then silence..) After this happened a few times they would proly run out of volunteers...
I find your comment (maybe they thought Jake went crazy) to be interesting. I doubt we have heard the last of Parker. I wouldn't put it past the little weasel to "spin" the whole thing to make himself look good by claiming Jake DID go crazy. I could see the little corporate lackey telling his RDA boss's that putting Jake in an Avatar untrained was a huge mistake. That Jake completely lost touch with "reality" went totaly native and instigated a Navii uprising against the company. He could also claim that Quaritch completly over-reacted to the situation and underestimated the capabilities of the Navii to wage a "Jihad", getting his arrogant *** into a "Custers Last stand" situation and half the base personel killed in the proccess. Parker of course is going to make it sound like he was the sole voice of reason but that unfortnately events spun out of control when Quaritch practicly threatend to kill him if he got in his way. course this is just my opinion of Parkers err "character". Not saying this is the way the sequel will go as I don't claim to have any insight into that. Tho I do find it interesting to ponder the possible directions the plot could go

I think it's possible we see a small special ops unit of Avatar Marines infiltrate another Na'Vi clan and bring civil war to Pandora. If the rumors are correct and Avatar 2 takes place 7 years later, that would give the RDA enough time to do this. I figure after the sky people are sent packing and are on board the mother ship they send some type of distress or emergency signal back to Earth. This is just a guess. The first Avatar shows us that while human technology for space travel is much more advanced than today it still has severe restrictions. From what is established in Avatar, it would be impossible to move a huge army to Pandora overnight or all at once..

To infiltrate a Navi clan they will need better Avatars that don't have extra fingers and toes and ones that don't smell "alien" to the Na'vi. I like the ideas you guys are tossing out though, sounds like it would be exciting to me.

I'm going to go on a limb and say they do in fact get a small infiltrative group of Avatars into Pandora. It's not like it's going to be a big secret if there's spaceships zooming in time to time onto Pandora's surface, I would think they would try to disguise the fact that they're infiltrating, rather that they want to learn the ways of the People... Similar to Jake. Get them to trust you in other words. Then, try not to get "lost in the woods" persay, and take down Jake, or any other resistant group on Pandora to reclaim it.

Or perhaps the RDA sends down Avatars as a part of colonizing attempt on Pandora, which may backfire ultimately....

I'm just interested in how this thread has become so active of all a sudden.

I would like to point out that Jake survived his first day out in the forest in his Avatar because Eywa was watching over him, and that includes Neytiri's intuitive choice to save him from the Viper Wolves.

As to the idea of an elite Avatar combat team; I think its possible. We(the audience)were only shown Hell's Gate mining base. What if other secret and more militarized bases were established on Pandora? Perhaps even an underwater complex? When you consider how desperate Earth's power structure is dependent upon Pandora would one mining base be satisfactory, in the minds of the powers that be, for securing such a invaluable interest?

JC did say it won't be a sequel per say but a 3 movie character arc. One thing for sure is I don't want is if Jake and Neytiri do have a child, I don't want the child to be the center of the story. We need more Jake and Neytiri right now, a strengthening and deepening of their relationship. That needs to be focused on and done. I wish the first Avatar had given us a bit more of Jake and Neytiri relationship but due to time contraints we just got the major points. I read somewhere that when Avatar was first finished, Sam Worthington said iti was over 4 hours long! JC reluctantly had to cut it down to fit IMAX run times only. Which, sounds a little like selling out, but it was the right move to help bring Avatar to the highest grossing move of all time and if that didn't happen, we wouldn't get any more. But I digress.

Avatar 2 even with a totally new plot and story needs to focus on jake and Neytiri to give us a more of what we didn't get the first time around. Still, I would like to see JC issue the original 4+ hour feature. The extended cut is awesome. JC also said some scenes were cut because of pacing issues. Some deleted scenes on the 3 disc DVD are awesome and should be finished and put back and made into a super length feature of the original movie.
