Grace and Quaritch return in Avatar sequel

There has been a lot of talk about the return of Grace and Quaritch. To me an actors return can be a make or brake moment for a sequel. If it is realistic than I don't have a problem with it. If the return is explained in a cheesy manner than it is just a cop out.

I have posted my thoughts on this in other posts, but I got to thinking this morning and I came up with an idea that makes sense for both characters.

Grace has more possibilities of how she will return. I think there are 2 real possibilities for her. As we have seen, she is now with Eywa so I think we will see her as a physical materialization of Eywa when Jake speaks with her at the Tree of Souls. The other would be flashbacks, especially the incident at the school. I can see Neytiri talking to Jake about that day, it can be brought up by him asking her about what happened.

I have seen a third theory about Grace that I can see the possibility. That is, Eywa returns Grace's spirit to her avatar which can still be alive. I just think it is a little far fetched but can see it happening.

Quaritch is a different matter. He is dead, two arrows to the chest would be fatal. The only way that would make sense about his return would be a flashback. This is what I just thought about.

We know that Quaritch has a scar on his head, the only thing he says was that it happened the first day he was there. That can be seen as a little exaggeration on his part. What caused that injury? I was looking at the scar and it occurred to me what may have caused it. A Na'vi! Seeing how the Na'vi have three fingers and a thumb matches a type of injury that may be caused by a swipe from a Na'vi.

Now to the heart of my theory. I think it was Quaritch that attacked the school. I think he chased Neytiri's sister,Sylwanin, to the school and then opened fire. When Grace was hit I think Sylwanin then attacked Quaritch causing his injury and knocking off his mask. At the same time he fired his gun killing Sylwanin.

Quaritch specifically said that he got the scar on his head on his first day on Pandora. It seems unlikely that the attack on the school happened that long ago.

We don't know how long Quaritch has been on Pandora. I also have the feeling that Quaritch worked his way up to security chief while there. It could have been his first day out in the jungle protecting the bulldozers when Sylwanin and others attacked them.

Also I don't think it was that long ago. The picture on the fridge shows Neytiri and she doesn't look a whole lot younger.

I also rather disagree with the theory that Quaritch attacked anything else than Pandora "stuff" at his first day there. Furthermore i believe that his scar was caused by one of these evil dogs (sry, no idea how they re called actually :P) or by anything else dangerous, i m sure there are many possibilities to get hurt on pandora as a human, although its a very interesting thought that the wound which led to his scar remaining was caused by a navi (because they just have 4 fingers this would obviously fit in quite well).
But all in all i honestly dont want Quaritch do come back. :P
He was the evil guy once, thats enough, there should be another threat they should fight against in my opinion.

I totally agree. Bringing "dead-thought" people back is really a, as you put it in words well, "make or brake moment". Agree with the rest as well^^

Bring Quaritch back just wouldn't work, the only way I can imagine is by genetic engineering, and I really can't see a way of writing that in without it seeming ridiculous.

Having Quaritch in a flashback is not bringing him back like some people want.

In a way I think he was exaggerating a bit when he said it happened on day one. He could have been easily saying that it happened on the first day he was outside the wire.

I don't really like the idea of either coming back. I'm a big fan of the idea of once you're dead, you're dead. Too many times ressurections are overplayed in films and frankly the idea is a little stale.

Is more likely to happen to see Grace's return as an "Eywa spirit". And is even more attractive to watch Grace's past at the school, I think. But come on, why would anyone want to see Quaritch return? Even as a flashback the idea just sucks. I don't know...
