James Cameron needs a break from Avatar

James Cameron has admitted that the Avatar sequel is not going to happen straight away.

The sci-fi epic has broken through the $2 billion barrier to become the biggest grossing movie of all time and there are already calls for a second.

The filmmaker has stated in the past that he has story ideas for future Avatar films and has hinted that a second installment was already in the pipeline, but admits that he’s not ready yet to work on the follow up.

He said, “I think the breathing room is a given. The fastest we could imagine making another film is three to three and a half years, from the moment we start, and we’re not planning on starting tomorrow.

"It’s not about me needing breathing room. It’s that these films take time. There’s going to be a natural breathing room.

“People will have forgotten about Avatar, by the time we get a sequel done, and then they’ll go, 'Oh, Avatar. Yeah, that would be cool.'

"It’s not like Iron Man 2, coming out the year after Iron Man 1. It ain't going to work that way."

"It’s going to be done in parallel with whatever I’m doing next, over the next year. We’re targeting for a Spring 2012 release, which is the hundred year anniversary of the sailing of the Titanic. It’s a nice marketing hook."

The director is also planning on turning his hit Titanic, which was the biggest grossing movie of all time before Avatar came along, into a 3D movie.

That Avatar needs some breathing room is quite right! You shouldn't just realase sequel after sequel... like ****ing SAW!!!
Now that just sucks! JC knows how to win the crowd and their excitement! With every years/month that I'll be forced to wait... my need for the sequel will be growingeven greater!
So he has me by the balls there already!

Now now LoveAvatar, i enjoy Saw and it's sequels as it's the new Nightmare on ELm Street Street series or Friday The 13th for the new generation.

YES we need Cameron for Avatar 2 and 3, he is gonna do a couple of segments for the upcoming new multi-animated multi-director Heavy Metal animated movie and Battle Angel Alita.

A reason why Cameron needs 'time to breath' could be that he's probably rethinking parts of his "original" planned plot, making it even more epic. However, I am sure it's gonna be a masterpiece of work! ANd meanwhile we'll get the DVD, the book and lots of fanfics released!
