I don't understand, there are other places on Earth to film than that. I'l be shocked if it gets post-poned due to this.

I refuse to believe that Avatar 2 is going to be postponed due to thus, I mean, Cameron could use his imagination in other places than the Mariana's Trench right? He thought up of the thanator for crying out loud!

For those who want to know what the article is all about, it basically states that Avatar 2 may be altered or postponed due to the risks of filming in the Mariana's Trench due to the earthquake that has ravaged Japan. Seriously.

If James is indeed reading this forum, he should know he could do something else than film 3D in the trench.
It means "Wind Rider" in Na'vi.

Default James Cameron's Marianas Trench Dive Called Off

    3/22/2011 9:43 AM EST

James Cameron will have to search for a new dive location to do some research for his upcoming "Avatar" sequel.

The Academy Award Winning director had planned on taking a custom built submersible into the Marianas Trench, the deepest part of the world's oceans, which is located off the coast of Japan. Given the conditions of the large, 9.0 magnitude of the earthquake, scientists say that the entire region could experience aftershocks for years to come. This makes the already dangerous expedition become nearly impossible. The risk is just too great for everyone involved.

Cameron was to explore and research the life forms that lived there in order to design the oceans of Pandora.

Due to the limited information on this I would imagine it's fictional.

Starting to wonder about that, since it's only coming from ONE news source and I haven't heard of it anywhere else.
