Default AVATAR 2: details start to emerge

    '
What is understood, however, as reported at MarketSaw, is that the pressure is very much on Cameron to move ahead with Avatar 2 sooner rather than later. Furthermore, details of the plot are beginning to emerge, with the site reporting that Avatar 2 will focus on a full-blown war. The sequels are also set to leave Pandora, although it's not clear yet as to where Cameron is planning to take the action (although we'd wager that Pandora will play a large part in Avatar 2).

The site also reports that Avatar 2 will definitely be made within the next four years, which would point towards Cameron potentially doing The Dive first.'

Pressure to Cameron to do a sequel for a movie that has grossed 2 billion (and counting)?

    I can not imagine why.

A full blown war would surely be Human vs Human, especially if it spans multiple planets/moons.

How would the Navi possibly survive a drawn out full scale war? They are outnumbered a 100,000 or so to about 10,000,000,000.

    it's all very intruiging.

Oh boy. A full-blown war, huh? I had been hoping that the next film could avoid that. I would much rather focus on Pandora's ecosystem, the Na'vi tribal culture(s) and the Jake/Neytiri dynamic than see more (admittedly visually spectacular) battle scenes.

One comment about Avatar that I have seen several times (even from Peruvian indigenous peoples) is that the way the movie ended with a big battle instead of peaceable negotiations was something of a disappointment to them. The fact that it did was understandable, given that Quaritch was running amok at the end and would have simply ignored (at best) any negotiating team, but still a letdown from the point of view of 'higher morality'. The few real victories of indigenous peoples over transnational capitalism have been negotiated and diplomatic in nature, albeit backed up by the threat of serious violence if the negotiations failed.

I still hope, however, that the final triumph of the Pandorans (Na'vi and Human both) in the third film will be non-military in nature. Perhaps Eywa will get involved with restoring Earth's dying ecosystem, in exchange for diplomatic recognition of a Na'vi-dominated Pandora system.

Would it really matter if you could transport a small cargo of tactical nukes?

Yes, I hope it doesn't go all Transformers or Star Wars newer trilogy on us. What makes this film so unique is its gorgeous setting, and it would be a shame if that were minimized. Personally, I've seen enough big space battles.
