I've never been so torn on the idea of sequels before. On one hand, the quality is destined to degrade as more and more sequels are made. On the other hand, I rue the day JC says "I'm done with Avatar". Some franchises can survive bad installments easily, but I don't think Avatar can. In fact, to my knowledge, no James Cameron franchise has been able to pick itself back up after falling. (unless you count the incredible Terminator TV series as an upswing)

I really agree with you man, I want to go back to Pandora, but It would be worse to have to sit thorugh some cash-cow franchise dreck of a sequel.

I say we wait and see how 2 and 3 pan out before we pass on judgement on whether a 4th and 5th should be made. However, if 2 and 3 are as good as the first one then, like everyone here, I am all for it.

    Agree with you!
Not only, because what happened to "Star Wars", look what happened to "Alien Nation" (a script from Cameron!)
After my personal opinion , Avatar story, should include two (very long, 200 min.) films, not more!

Nothing will beat Avatar 1. If it goes past 3, it could be a HUGE mistake.

The problem with the Star Wars prequels isn't that Lucas was making them just for money. Those actually were EXACTLY what he wanted them to look like, which raises the problem of just how senile he went in the years since Episode VI. It's hard to compare the first three with the last three, but, indeed, Episodes I, II, and III were just what Lucas wanted to see, and he's still proud of them to this day.
