Carlos in DC: Avatar is real: Pandora is in Central & South America and Africa where Indigenous peoples are displaced by wars and corporations (http://carlosqc.blogspot.com/2010/01/avatar-is-real-pandora-is-located-in.html). This is beyond terrible, and I feel so helpless to stop the atrocities.:,( Does anyone here have any idea what to do to help them?

I see the current economic system this way:
Say that we have 10 lakes with fish in them. We have a different owner for each one of the lakes.
Say that the owners of 9 of them, lakes 2-10, only take up as much as is replenished each year -10%.
And also say that the owner of lake 1 takes up as much as he can, say 90%. So owner one stands with 90% while the other 9 owners stand with 10% + 10% + 10% + 10% + 10% + 10% + 10% + 10% + 10% = 90%.
That means that owner one has half of the market. He can probably dump prices and force one of the other owners out of business and buy it cheap. He also goes to one of the other owners and say: I'll buy your lake for 50%. Take the money and then you can retire. So he buys lake 2 and again takes all of the fish up. He also takes all of the fish up from the lake where the owner was forced out of business. He now has 180% (90% of the fish available from each of the lakes). The other owners still take up just 10% so they have 7*10% = 70%. He now totally dominates the market and can buy up the other lakes.
We need to set a price for the ecosystem, ocean, which is higher then the value of all the resources in it. We need to make it worth more to have a functional ecosystem than to ruthlessly exploit it. A functioning world must be worth more then a non-functioning one. One where the fish is gone, the rivers and lakes polluted, the forests gone, the atmosphere unclean etc.
The problem with this is that then the value would have to remain (except from what can be renewable taken) in the forests and in the lakes and oceans. There are a lot of corporations out there that would rather have that money in their pockets."
As for the revolution, I think that most people are so lost that they don't know how it feels to be free. I think going by example is the way to go.
Compare it to ELF (Earth liberation front): they do not try to increase the value of the holistic system; instead they try to reduce the fruits of exploiting it. They do this by burning down logging company buildings etc to reduce their profit. Of course, they are nowhere near succeeding and they have been labeled by the FBI "the top domestic terrorism threat in the United states.

Speak out on their behalf. Make people aware. The more people are aware, the less it is possible for rights abuses to go on. This is the basic premise upon which Amnesty International operates as well. Spreading awareness and getting people to write to the relevant parties.

I am going to spread the word and make people aware of these atrocities. If some corporations can see reason then we can deal with them first. If not I will go down there and stop this. There is no way I am letting some stupid company bulldoze the last pristine and beautiful parts of this Earth. They have gotten away with too much **** already. They need to be stopped, this cannot happen. :nangry:

What action will you take to stop them?

First, by bumping this thread up to the top... and telling everyone to join Survival International and emerging manifestations like the Navi Movement. Grassroots. Or if you're a little more daring and don't have any commitments tying you down to one place... I suggest going to the country where the natives are... living amongst them and campaigning on their behalf.

Nice way to make them stop, but they will realize that the only thing that is going to take place after the end of oxygen is the Death and no Money....But we have to try to stop them..The future of our world is in our hands and no in the hands of Factories!!!!

I have now come to the conclusion that until we help ourselves we cannot help anyone else. Everyone in their own countries must look at their local issues and create pressure for change. If collectively we all in our own countries pressure for change, then this change will be felt worldwide. This is the best way we can help the real Navi. It's the Butterfly effect. The same forces that are destroying the indigenous peoples of South America are also the ones that are taking American jobs overseas and giving them to slave-wage workers. It is a system that is not meant to uphold the strength of nations, of peoples, it is only meant to uphold the strength of corporations who use the entire world as their chessboard. It is a system which only looks to the bottom line, humanity and environment (real wealth) be damned.
What can you do right now? Vote with your wallet and tell everyone you know to do this too. Buy local. Don't buy from giant and abusive corporations. Give economic lifeblood to the small businesses, while taking it away from the big players. This saves humanity and environment both. Local business is much easier to regulate ethically than a giant corporation whose final consumers have no idea of what atrocities take place half way around the world to bring us our pretty little gadgets.
