Heelloooooo!! My dear Friends.. Humans and Na'vi..
I miss you all..
I See you all..
I had kinda of Imagination/prediction/foretelling. Its a crazy idea, came to me while sleeping. And i'm in desperate need to share it with you..
>> Sorry if its gonna be a long post.. <<
I guess we all remember James Cameron Terminators and there basic idea.., right?
Combining the Two stories together, i woke up founding this scenario in my head:
After skynet is self-aware and tries to terminate humanities, it enters that bloody war.
Now skynet knew that no one will win this war. The Machine power and humans are equal,Skynet knew that they will destroy each other and destroy the planet in the way.
Looking in the human archives, skynet AI get amazed by the creativity and the Good Spirit of humans. It understands that its not there fault that their government Sucks. All human must not pay this price. The AI must be fair.
Skynet sees James Cameron work, get Amazed knowing that JC predicted this war. moving on his work, skynet watch Avatar and Get AFFECTED by it.( Like all we did). The AI Cries, Knowing this is the solution.
Skynet watches the Woods and forests of Earth. find that the planet start to regain its health. the only threat now is the war between humans and machines.
So, Skynet Decides to make its Big Project Ever:
Turn Earth Into PANDORA, and turn Humans into Na'Vi..
Skynet founds in the archives that humans made Genetics experiments in this field. So, skynet uses the captured human to continue the experiments and make the new race and the new animals with the Bioluminesence ability (already exists in many earth creatures). (e.g)Makes Ikran From pterodactyl.
Update: I've found a thread here that talks about something similar:
http://www.avatar-forums.com/science-forum/6295-real-engineering-cloning-navis-labs.html
Now, skynet kidnaps John Conors and show him the plan, with the new humans live in peace and harmony with the nature. John Conors realize that's the ultimate solution for everybody. and agreed to let Skynet take his DNA to make the futuristic First Toruk-Makto.
John Conors tell this to humans, some refuses, some agreed. those who refuse went to the outer space, to another planet. (I'm not sure about that part, though!)
Now, after fixing the Earth, and get the Balanced ecosystem(in respect with the climat and new creatures), Skynet turn itself into Eywa, to complete the story. Connects all the people and animals with it, via neural network, it acts exactly like Eywa.
[ PS: I have no idea about earth's atmosphere after that long war. and if it needs to be modified or not. I just assume skynet will change it a little bit to be comfortable to all beings ]
The Main Machine HQ lies deep, near the core of earth. and connects with the living via the bio and neural links, established in all the planet.
Skynet Mission is accomplished. it saves the planet and disabled the evil of humanity. in their new bodies and minds, humans have some mercy and stopped killing each other.
"Not sure about this idea". it came to my mind right now:
Skynet may use some surveillance Aero-ships to monitor Humans/Na'vi from above. so they steal the idea of "Hallelujah Mountains" and disguise those ships in that form.
After some years, Skynet uses John Connors's DNA to make the First Toruk Makto. to unite the Na'vi together, to lead them through a hard time.

Done!

Its an interesting concept but the first flaw I can point out is how do you explain a machine having an emotion?
The theory that a machine can become so intelligent that it becomes self aware is sound but it doesn't mean it can feel anything.

Skynet wouldnt act like this, though. It will only stop after all humans are terminated. But what about, these engineered na'vi join humans in an epic war against skynet?
Btw, a HQ close to earth's core would melt pretty quick! ;)

I cant argue.. as i said above.., some serious "weird" things happens with me these days!
as i remember, i didnt awake in a morning, to find a blurry idea in my head that get cleared time after time..
For the AI having feeling. well, any AI system contains of Goals(target to be reached), facts(its basic information) and rules(how the AI thinks to get the solution).
Emotions can described using these concepts (its kinda long thing to write) but check this. its not the site i knew the feelings stuff of, but its kinda be useful
Female Humanoid “HRP-4C Miim” Can Now Express Her Feelings - GIGAZINE (http://en.gigazine.net/index.php?/news/comments/20091218_hrp4c_mimu_demo/)
Also, i really dunno how skynet can handle the heat down there(!). maybe its not really near the core. maybe deep enough in a giant cave/ underwater enviroment!.. reakky dont know!!

Interesting dream! I had one similar dream involving 2001: A Space Odyssey and 2010: The Year We Make Contact. Let me explain mine.
The aliens that developed the monolith not only had access to our solar system, but others as well, after harnessing FTL travel abilites. No one knows where they truly originated from, they just use Jupiter as an outpost for our solar system. Similarly, in Alpha Centauri, they use Polyphemus as an outpost.
They push apes to evolve here on Earth, and prolemuris to evolve on Pandora using monoliths. They purposely made the two planets evolve different - they made humans industrious and competitive, while making the Na'vi a natural, cooperative people, keeping them connected through "Eywa," which they create using broken up monoliths (which is the unobtainium).
Eventually seeing the mistakes they made with Earth, the aliens began plotting how to fix their mistake. Using the 2001 mission to Jupiter, they choose Dave Bowman as their intermediary, to be able to make contact with earth again. He becomes part of Eywa, but not just the Pandoran "mini-Eywa", he comes part of the Eywa which makes up the entire alien life-force.
So 2010 rolls along, and the second mission using the Leonov to find the Discovery One is sent. Bowman returns to tell the humans of "something wonderful," which turns out to be the aliens turning Jupiter into a star, Lucifer. Eventually the outer planets begin to orbit around it, and Saturn pulls Earth and Mars into it's orbit, making them moons, as it orbitss on our side of Jupiter (now Lucifer). Now, just like in Alpha Centauri, we are moons of a gas giant, and a second, life-bearing planet is created. (Polyphemus has a second life-bearing moon, apparentally).
Last but not least, the aliens replace the knowledge in our minds that they gave us as apes, replacing it with knowledge similar to the Na'vi. They give us instructions about what to bioengineer, such as Na'vi bodies, queue, an Earthly Eywa, etc, and teach us how to eventually "phase out" technology once it's done.
Strange, vivid, dream, but kinda cool.:nsmile:

Ok - guess this is rather OT for the "science forum", but nice stories! The earth beeing pulled out of orbit part is completely insane LOL.
But the last part of your story connects to something, I wrote before. It is a (probably rather transhumanist) view of the future I have. It is more SciFi though (yet) but has some substance, I think. The theory behind it involves that our civilization will eventually run out of resources, so we will turn to biotechnology, since it takes up only replenishable resources. We could grow houses, use plants to produce everything in our daily lives, grow and use bio-computers and a bio internet (ok, here is a flaw since transmission speed in biology is far lower than glassfibre). If we have no need to travel around the world for business, we could use animals for transportation, but if we still want to control them safely, we could invent the biological equivalent of a neural interface which also could connect us to the i"internet". In a way, we could end up in a Pandora like environment not by returning to beeing hunters and gatherers, but by advancing our technology beyond a point we would recognize it as technology.
You know the quote "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." (Clarke), so as we advance beyond copper wires in grey plasic boxes and controlled explosions of gasoline in metal blocks, we might end up on our own Pandora, in a world that appears magical to us but is a product of our own making.
P.S.: Oh and BTW - I hope they never make 3 meter tall people. This would be insane in a ecology with its resources already dwindeling. If anything, we should become smaller. Earth could probably sustain more 3 foot hobbits than 6 foot humans or 9 foot Na'Vi!

Really? I always thought the Na'vi actually need less energy in the long run. They draw their strength from bone, not muscle. Once bone is made, it's made, but muscle, being a tissue, requires a constant input of energy to maintain/grow. Of course young Na'vi probably consume a lot more food than young humans, but once their bones are in place, their rather un-muscular frames reduce the amount of food they must consume.
Remember the dinner scene with everyone sitting around the fire? All they really needed to eat were a few grubs.

I cannot imagine that. Strength of the bone means resistance against things like falling off an ikran or a tree, but not pulling a bow or climbing. Actually if you look at it, the Na'Vi are very muscular. On Pandora, 3m body size is ok, since gravity is lower, on Earth it would take more energy and also more room.

Yeah.. Scientifically, the less gravity a celestial body have, the more chances that it's life forms has a bigger scale known to us..
so, for humans running on moon(per example) they're very light and actually they jump to move even with their heavy spacesuits.. if moon have creatures, they will be stuck on the earthly ground!

There was an interesting documentary on TV two weeks ago. It played with the thought of humans going to other planets. One aspect was, that we might use biotechnology to create humans that fit ti the environments we will find. It states, that humans could create human beeings, that can live on mars or on planets with more or less gravitation than earth. It had some examples also. Like people on the (less gravitaional) mars would be taller.
I want to read "the integral trees (larry niven) again. In it, humans live in a orbiting floating tree in a gas torus around a neutron star. So they have a zero-G environment, that gives them a different built (oh and of course I want to read again something about people living in a tree - LOL)

Hello All..,
By returning to that thread, and remembering that abnormal dream/vivid dream- imagination-hallucination or whatever it was, it looked weird!
But I still like it any way! And so with all your replies :))
@ Aurora: another idea of people living in a floating tree. Again??
@Tsyal Makto.. Your's is interesting too.. can we guess what happened in the time of great sorrow? the time of Neytiri's grand grand father?
what could happen in that peaceful world that require the gathering of the clans???
See you later..,

Yes, that is an interesting question, almost begging to be answered in the sequels. They said, it had been several times that the clans had to be united - I also wondered, what could have happened. And 2 generations back that is not even a long time ago if you think how long the Na'Vi probably exist.
And yes - As I keep mentioning, there are several books and stories containinge elements that are repeated in Avatar. Most noteably "Midworld" (see this thread (http://www.avatar-forums.com/book-forum/4004-comparisons-avatar-alan-dean-fosters-midworld.html)), which has stranded humans (who became natives after some generations) living in a "Home Tree" in a jungle with a hive consciousness while flying reptiles soar the skies. They bond with a hexapod animal as a companion. The "Integral Trees" has stranded humans (who became natives), living in floating trees in a low/zero Gravity environment. One of these trees is the "Citizens Tree". And then there is "Lethe", which deals with humans destroying their own planet and then trying to colonize a new planet by changing their physiology (in this case to an aquatic environment). The new planet holds a thinking forest.
Greetings, Aurora
