hi
I watchd Avatar in 3D and i loved it. It was so awesome. But a day later i wished to be there and was angry about the greed of the human race. we saw it so oftn in our history but we still do the sam mistakes. And if we live the same we as now in th future i dont think that we will live for a long time.
What do you think?

I think that our generation will be just fine. But for our children and grandchildren, God knows.

Agreed, we will destroy ourselves if we don't make a change...We will kill our Mother...:(
I hope that people will start to think about consequences of their actions, and that our children will have a life here, not a struggle to survive....

As much as i hate saying it:
I think Earth is pretty much lost already.
Face it, we have too many dividing factors in the way of us working together. To "improve" our planet".
Religion, National-Pride and "race" are just a few of them.
( And i'm not bashing down on Nationalists, there's nothing wrong with a little pride - But most of the values are severely outdated. )
*Edit* Oh, and overpopulation is probably one of the most severe problems right now. " Surplus Population " anyone?

Yah, it would be extremely hard for us to turn earth around, litterally everyone would have to put in an equal effort which is almost impossible due to all the different variables and politics.

humans change?
-most wont change ( especial big concerns etc.)
-some will rethink, and will handel more insightful (after watched Avatar, or documentations:D)
-some human still living well to the nature ( especial the aborigines)

this is also a huge issue, so many people only think about them selves and whats relative to them, it would take an entire nation of people trying to coax other people into being more enviromentally healthy.

Watch BBC Horizon 2009. How many people can live on planet earth, by David Attenborough.
Sums it all up in an understandable way.

That is a tall order, in which the times spans would be ridiculous, the best I can think to do is be the change you want to see in the world. Time will provide followers.

We DO NOT have to continue what our ancestors did. We may as well fix the Earth cause its NOT lost! Not yet. This depends on us. To either fix our home, or find another and quick. Replace coal factories with solar pannels or windmills or even Tesla towers. Its up to us. We have the tech, he have the motive. Will we do it? God knows

Humans need to change. Really, what happens is up to us.

Necessity has always been the mother of innovation. If we are in fact dooming ourselves, we'll find a way to survive. It's why we're still here after all.

I don't think we will kill our mother. I think she will kill us. Unless, we stop hurting her.
edit: As to overpopulation. We have a K-value, we ain't no different. Like most other things we will rise rapidly. Overshoot it. Fall rapidly. then steady out. Idk about you guy's, but i am scared for what the fall is gonna look like.
carrying capacity is a life thing, not a "those wild animals" thing

Today in the engineering world, the environment is one of the most important issues while facing a problem. Have you guys heard of solar-powered cargo ships (instead of coal)? They exist, and the idea needs to catch on.
Everything we do is going to have to relate to the environment, but as for slowing down the advance of technology, you can't, I can't, as a species we won't. It's set in stone, but we have to do the best we can with handling it.
