i noticed that the na'vi wear certain jewelry to denote their rankings in their clans, jake also gains some jewelry like he has nothing when he first joins the na'vi ,like he gets a left arm band for learning to ride a pa'li he gains a simple necklace and simple right arm band when he gets his first clean kill later he gains more advanced necklace and the headdress when he learns to ride an ikran ,later on he gains the vest thing when he becomes one of the na'vi and a double right and double left arm bands when he becomes toruk makto and finally he gains the leaders necklace in the end

I've always guessed it's how you can tell who's a warrior or who's not in the clan. In most tribal societies it's how much jewelry you were that shows your rank, at least that's what I've read about.

I read somewhere that's what the Na'vi do as well. The more jewelry and decorations you wear, the higher your rank is in the clan.
I didn't notice Jake getting new things each time he did something, though I did notice it more towards the end obviously.

and what about the colour of the arm bands, necklace etc? i believe there is some symbolism in each colour... blue, green, red etc.

Interesting, I think it could just be as he learned more about the Na'vi, he gained more though. I don't think the Na'vi would really be ones for obviously displaying status, except for the obvious cases such as Olo'eyktan and Tsahik.

Great observation, the eye covers that the Na'vi wear after bonding with their Ikran's were my first observation. But I guess peaceful beings like the Na'vi need hierarchy as well.

Yes, I've noticed that too, after the first time I saw the movie.
I saw that there are distinctions, for example Mo'at and Eytukan are wearing excessive jewelry and clothes, compared to others.
