View Full Version : Would you become Na'vi, forgetting everything from your human life?

Human No More

OK, this might be a bit similar to 'would you give up your Earth life for Pandora' but I think it's different enough.

Imagine Pandora exists. You have a choice - either keep living as a human on Earth (and if you do, you will never see Pandora), or be reborn as a Na'vi on Pandora. If you choose to become Na'vi, you forget everything about Earth and your human life and are raised by the Na'vi from birth - truly one of The People, you would be the same person personality wise etc as before, but would not know that you had chosen that life.
Which would you choose? Myself, I'd become Na'vi.

Would it matter in the long run that I made the decision or not? If I'm forgetting everything that made me human... to become na'vi, the question becomes redundant, doesnt it? You'd be forgetting why you wanted to be na'vi in the first place.

Human No More

Yes, you wouldn't know what you chose, but many people here would be happier given a chance at that life. I know I would. You wouldn't even miss anything, since you wouldn't remember it.

How can you miss the memory if you don't remember it?

I'd become Na'vi in an instant, after seeing AVATAR its made me think of what we are doing to out planet and made me feel disgusted to be human.

Eywas Puppet

If you change the question slightly, replacing 'forgetting' with 'remembering', then not only yes, but hell yes. The na'vi are enchanting, and simple people that epitomize harmony with ones environment. Who wouldnt want that? But I wouldnt want to forget my life as a human. My memories are part of what makes me me. Lose them, and I would just be another na'vi.

At the point in life where I am right now, I'd happily forget everything about my human life to become a Na'vi.

If all things goes as I hope for though, ask again in a few years, and I would say I'd prefer to remain here as a human.

It all depends on wheter I have someone special to devote my love to, or not.

I would have to agree with you on this. Na'vi life does look and sound amazingly fun, but I would horribly miss Earth and my life as a human.

The point is, you wouldn't miss Earth because you wouldn't know of it. To you, you would have always been Na'vi. I was interested whether it would be different without the whole 'missing Earth' thing.

I'd stay human. As much as I enjoyed the movie, and as much as I can understand Jake changing (as he truly had nothing left), I personally, could not. I was born human, and I'll stay human. It's actually a very bad message if you think hard enough about it. What is the movie saying with regards to Jake neglecting his human body?

Now maybe if I fell in love with a hot Na'vi man, I'd rethink this lol. But only if I truly had no family, no job, and was yes completely paralyzed with no money to fix it. as I said, i get why Jake would do it, but not the average person.

What a tough decision. I absolutely love the na'vi, their culture, everything about them. But becoming a na'vi would mean to abandon my family and friends. I don't even want to think about it, it just seems so egoistic, even though I would forget my old life.
But I'd still like to become a na'vi if I had no friends/family. Then I'd be healthy again.

I wouldn't do that abandon to my good friend or family. it is hard decision honestly. Depend your feel to want become a Na'vi transformation.....If I left on Earth I would be sadly to left my family or friend, if I have a feel emotion. I know you guys not want to know your feel emotion like upset stomach I don't want give you upset you guys...Think like feel strong then go for it meet new Na'vi friend or mate.

I really don't know.. I'm thinking about this too much so I'll just go with impulse. I would be a Na'vi instead of a human being, some points:
-The idea of freedom will never bother me, an Ikran would solve that
-Knowing nature isn't savage like on Earth
-The sex would be even more amazing (no point in hiding it)
etc.

Marsya,

Oel ngati kameie tsmuke. But unless you have let your deafness get in the way of your life, you are most certainly NOT disabled. I'm sure that the Na'Vi, who are totally NOT like humans, would have a place for you and you would be loved. (not that you're not loved now, just making a point.) I would like to think that anyone with a challenge, be it sensory or physical, would be welcome in the Na'Vi life.

One the other hand, if, as the OP says, you were born and raised Na'Vi, you prolly would have your hearing anyway.

So, I say heck ya, lemme be Na'Vi.:nparty:

Can we have a weeks trial as Na'vi?
Would be pretty handy!

But as the majority (as of now) of people said, I'd go Na'vi.

Aquaplant
03-02-2010, 06:54 AM
But the question in itself is flawed because the idea of having to choose carries the weight of knowing that you had to make a choice, and the inability to set it all behind you so to speak.

I mean should one choose to become Na'vi, and I'm going to assume that one is cabable enough to get it done, because I for one know I'm not. It is stated in the OP that one would retain his/her personal characteristics, and for me at least those are contradictionary to the way of the Na'vi in some ways at least. I guess I could fault the world for making me this way, and I would be quite different given alternate circumstances, but that's all highly speculative.

As for staying human and knowing that there's Pandora is pretty silly in itself, because it's implying that it can somehow be said with absolute certainty that Pandora exists and it's "just like in the movie". Now you state that it would be impossible to go there while still having the the knowledge of it's existence is simply irrational.

This poll is too biased in the "right" direction in it's current form, but I don't necessarily consider it as a bad thing, for I think we are all a little biased on these forums anyways. It just gets to me at times to notice these sort of inconsistencies that get my attention for reasons unknown.

I'm not going to vote however because I'm not making assumptions on things I do not have certain knowledge about. If I would know for sure that I would not turn out to be the same kind of moody person I'm today, because the Na'vi sure would not tolerate such behaviour.

I'm not saying they would abandon them, just that a disabled na'vi would be alot more likely to fall prey to the many dangers of pandora. on top of that, since the na'vi are in balance with their environment, they can't hunt for surplus food, since that would upset the ecosystem. I'm actually quite curious how the na'vi would handle such a challenge.
