Extended/Deleted Scenes You Want in the DVD

There's loadsa talk about the extended version of the DVD and what will be in it but what I wonder is what you all think should be in the extended version or deleted scenes?

I think there should be a scene right after Jake and Neytiri mated where Neytiri plays with Jake's 5 fingered hand and comments that she really doesn't care about the fact he's a Skyperson. It would really add to the depth of their relationship IMO, even though it's implied that she accepts his alien-ness

There are a host of scenes I want to see (more Avatar = Very Good Thing :nlol:), but one that sticks with me most recently is at the destruction of Hometree.

In the script, when Grace is forced offline and her avatar falls, they are about to leave Grace's avatar behind. But Mo'at gives it some thought and says to haul the body with them (perhaps inspired by Eywa). Seems like it really should be there, since the Omaticaya think Jake and Grace betrayed them and their home is burning, just need a little more exposition....

Yeah, it wasn't clear why they brought her along despite her 'betrayal'. I think there should also be more of Mo'at using that amazing voice of hers. Taming of toruk as well? Although there has to be a good reason why JC didn't include it, maybe it'll be in AVTR2

Tsuteys death and the sex scene are going to be in the deleted version 100%, JC confirmed the sex scene and a release of a pic from the deleted scene was from Tsuteys death. In addition to those I wish to see these in the deleted scenes

1. A fishing scene between Jake and Neytiri
2. All of the dream hunt scene (including before it where Tsutey and Jake are drunk)

I think they should have Neytiri pregnant in the last one then at the end cut to a couple of years later or whatever and you see them happy as a family, i know it's been done a million times before but id still love it.

I dont really care about them having sex, it's more Tsahaylu i'm wanting.

As for extras, i want everything thats in the script, everything thats been filmed, everything! Im getting the bluray and theres plenty of space on that to include stuff and and extra dvd could hold extras if needed for the dvd release.

I hope it will be like with Lord of The Rings - they just added all deleted scenes to the movie. I think it's better than every scene in single clip.

Definitely the extended dinner scene where Neytiri talks slow to Jake while saying her name.

Also the Jake & Tsu'tey getting drunk scene. Good bonding moment even if it is ruined and it lets the audience understand Tsu'tey a little more.

Tsu'tey death scene - so it's clear that Jake is clan leader.

Of course, I personally want to see as many scenes as I can get. But...

This may not be a popular view, but the one scene I think I may not need is the "taming" of toruk. JC is a great storyteller because he does things that are extremely difficult, such as letting other people help shape his creative baby.

And making tough decisions about cutting things to serve the Story. He discussed this in relation to cutting Tsu'tey's death scene (though I think that one really does belong in there). However,

1) along with the Omaticaya, we see Jake riding toruk for the first time as he approaches us, thus we share some of their emotions at the sight

2) we have little concern that he won't survive

3) we've already seen him subdue a flying beast

Of course, I may eat my words if there's an ultra-cool (and it would be) scene of Jake struggling with toruk. And I'll happily watch any scenes I can get, but I do think the way JC presented this is one of many testaments to his storytelling mastery.

Before Jake can answer, NEYTIRI’S lithe shape runs through the circle of silhouetted dancers toward them. She takes Jake by the hand and pulls him up --

NEYTIRI
You must dance! It is the way.

TSU’TEY watches as she leads him away, his face darkening -- the moment of connection to Jake lost to anger. The hunters WHOOP and CHEER as Jake joins the circle of dancers. Jake takes Grace’s hand and pulls her up, protesting.

JAKE lets the DRUMS and CHANTING flow through him. He lets himself go, dancing from the inside, channeling the primal energy.

GRACE is rocking out, grinning. We see the young girl, so repressed, who lives within her. Jake and Neytiri flow amongst the dancers, but they are
looking only at each other.A couple of the young girls watching from outside the circle are giggling and talking about them. Mo'at and EYTUKAN follow their look, seeing the obvious connection.

ON JAKE, dancing with abandon to the primal beat, eyes locked with Neytiri.

Heheheh... DEFINITELY! I'm wondering if that wasn't a late cut Cameron made to avoid tying his hands too much in the sequels.

Anyway, when I read the script, the things that stood out to me that would really add to the movie were (in order of my preference):
1) Tsu'tey's death (well, euthanasia)
2) Extra mating details (c'mon, who wouldn't want these?!)
3) Extended intro (Bar scene, etc.)
4) The Tsu'tey vs Jake "challenge" fight.
5) Grace's expanation of how the school came to its end.

Stuff I definitely *wouldn't* want in the extended version (but would tolerate, of course!):
1) Neytiri being pregnant! NOOOOO!!!!
2) Trudy and Norm gettin' it on. Nobody needs to see THAT!
3) The "dream hunt" (uniltaron)--I just think the Toruk Makto bit was predictable enough without this part in there.

I would like to see several scenes: The attack by the other Avatars and Max on Hell's Gate, the sequence with Tsu'Tey ending up drunk, the confrontation between Quaritch and Selfridge, and a couple more. I also anticipate and extended MATING scene, I still back the claim this will NOT be a sex scene as many people think, as that would dilute the scene as a whole in my opinion.

Is this going to be a "me too" post...? Well, kind of, since the scenes I'd like to see edited back into the movie (like they did with the LotR extended versions) have been mentioned already... I know that especially the scenes with Grace explaining what happened at the school and Tsu'Tey's death will trigger some more tears while watching them. I had to swallow hard when just reading those parts in the screenplay.
And the extended love scene with the joining of queues is linked to Tsu'Tey's death - if the scene with Wainfleet maiming him is edited back in, too (well, it has to, otherwise the "mercy killing" won't make sense).

So, best option: edit all of those scenes back in - and yes, I too want to see the dinner scene, where Jake gets to eat his first handful of teylu and the sturmbeest hunt with the big celebration afterwards, where Jake and Tsu'Tey get drunk and bond a little.

Those will be quite long months before that edition comes out... and as I wrote elsewhere, I'd love to see such a full version on the big screen first.

i am absolutely dying to see the storyline between Grace and the Omaticaya children she taught, in particular Neytiri's older sister Sylwanin. It was cut out the script, I was really disappointed :(
the extended scene with Jake and Neytiri at the Tree of Voices (don't we all :P)
and in the script, the teaching montage was much longer, i wish that will be on the DVD too.

Oh, and also the "dreamhunt" sequence was entirely missing from the movie. I hope it will come out on the DVD.
