View Full Version : Quartich is alive. I am sure of it.

He is too important of a character to die. Here is how I envision the scene where he meets with Jake and Neytiri again.

JAKE: But... you were dead!
QUARITCH (AMP suit): I thought that too. For a long time.
JAKE: What happened?
NEYTIRI: You... the colonel. I killed you.
QUARITCH: I faced your God. I faced Eywa. I long thought she did not exist. I was glad to be proven wrong.
JAKE: I don't understand.
QUARITCH: As I stood, face to the ground, dying, something happened - something that also happened to you, in fact. I was saved, by Eywa. It is the fate of every person who dies on Pandora - to face Eywa and die or, like me, be saved in a nearby Na'vi body.
JAKE: You were saved by Eywa?
QUARITCH: As I was dying, these little roots got all over my human body. And then, I awoke... As a Na'vi. A true, real Na'vi. Can you imagine my surprise? Eywa had chosen to transfer my consciousness in an Avatar body. And there I was, alive.
NEYTIRI: Eywa would never save you...
QUARITCH: I wondered about this for a long time, too. But I am here. As I said, Corporal: Two years in Nigeria, not a scratch. Six years in Pandora, and now I look as a goddamn blue monkey.
JAKE: Even as a Na'Vi... You still can't understand us?
QUARITCH: I'll never be a Na'vi! Never! I might be in that body but unlike you, I always was human. I now seek the destruction of all things Na'vi. As long as I breath, Jake, it's not over.
NEYTIRI: Sky people have left this world. You cannot do anything.
QUARITCH: Oh yes I can. RDA was developing a virus to solve the Na'vi problem once and for all. And I will now seek this virus.
JAKE: You would murder innocents just for revenge? Why?
QUARITCH: For what you have done to me. And for what I've become.
JAKE: You are Na'vi now. That virus, even if it exists, will also kill you.
QUARITCH: I have no interest in living in that horribly deformed body.

(Later in the movie, Quaritch is fighting with Jake, getting the upper hand)

JAKE: It's still not over.
QUARITCH: As long as I'm breathing....
JAKE: Wait! I have an offer for you. You need not to die. Come with us. Join the people.
QUARITCH: What?
JAKE: You can be a Na'vi. You can live as a Na'vi. You are a skilled fighter. You have your place amongst our people. Join us.
QUARITCH (genuinely surprised): After all I've done, all the trouble I've caused, all the Na'vis I've killed... Why?
JAKE: Because I understood. And I want you to understand, too. Join the people, be one - live as a Na'vi, like us. That... That was why Eywa saved you. To understand us as people, and become like us.

Quaritch is speechless. He stands there for a moment, hesitating, then his old mentality takes over. He charges at Jake, weaponless, but Neytiri comes out at the last second and shoots him dead once again.

QUARITCH: I'll never be... One of these things.... I'll never be... One of these things.

As Quaritch dies, he is shown crying, perhaps regretting his choice. In the last second of his life, he truly understand Eywa, the people, and die smiling.

The Na'vis are once more saved, the last remnants of RDA being wiped from Pandora for good. In the background, we see the last RDA outpost burning, along with this horrible virus created for only one purpose: killing.

*End*

I have never liked it when dead villains get resurrected.

Remember star wars? Yeah, it got a bit corny the third time Palps came back.

Thats one reason why the only Star Wars novels I'll read are by Zahn.

As awesome as Stephen Lang was, I don't hope to see him again; be it in his own body or that of a Na'vi.

I hope to see him in a flashback.

Just my opinion, but this falls into the bag of ideas I would consider to be lame methods of resurrecting the villain. The one we heard Lang joke about in an interview, regarding his DNA and obviously hinting at cloning also falls into that bag.

I personally, am very much against the Colonel returning. He was great for Avatar but now lets move on... It's like Spiderman ALWAYS fighting Green Goblin or Superman ALWAYS having to deal with Lex, etc... It's the easy way out when writers can't come up with anything else. they introduce cloning or time travel or whatever... I seriously hope JC is better than that and will not go this route.

Quaritch's character was a great one, I think we all can agree on that. So great in fact that you wanted to punch him in the face every time you saw him. However, I don't like the idea of him coming back for the second installment.

> Fun and interesting way to revive him.
> But have Quaritch regretting himself? Not like him... Not at all. He's the kind of guy that dies fighting. Also, it'd be a hell of a cliché (although Avatar is full of clichés already :nlol:)

no i dont think quaritch will come back at all. i think the RDA will definitely come back to Pandora to try and reclaim it and i think we will see some new characters on the human side. James Cameron will be too busy with the new characters than to bother with quaritch, who i think will stay dead

Flashback would be okay, because then he wouldn't be directly involved, but still be involved. Anything more than that, and I'm not sure I'll like it.

It really depends on how they do it.

Quaritch again would be kinda boring, I want to see something new. ;)

It wouldn't be believable to me if Quaritch returned. Neytiri buried two arrows in his chest! Quaritch, as we know him, is gone. But the RDA is not (nor is Selfridge).
