This might not be the rightest place where to put this kind of stuff, but I just wanted to know what does people from the big cities do to make their life more "Pandora alike".
I mean, I'm bored of just staring at the computer for hours and reduce my life to a screen. I want to get out of that, and so I began to read more and draw in my spare time instead; but that's not exciting.
So tomorrow I'm buying materials for a bow and some arrows to be made by myself. I've got a pretty big community garden full of palmtrees, olives and birches, so it's just about putting some targets on them and voilą.

I made a bow from a piece of red oak. It looks great and actually works really well!

Oh, and you don't have to stay in the city. Unless you are terminally ill and hooked up to life support, you could leave...
Hawaii. If you live in the USA, $680 and 6 hours can get you there.

Sure, but I live in Madrid and I'm 15.
That makes flying to Hawaii kinda difficult.
Start wearing Vibram 5 finger shoes.

That's awesome! How long did that take?

I want those shoes! :D
I also live in a city, but it's easy to reach a little forest + artificial lake (which is quite nice though).
If the weather is going crazy, I prefer to play some of my instruments or draw stuff (avatar-related for example)...for me, being outside or spending time with these activities makes every day more pandora-like.
I'm also looking forward to make myself a bow..hope it works
Btw, nice bow Tsu'Tay ;)

I did it over the weekend, working about 3-4 hours a day. Not too long or difficult...
If you want to make your own bow, a good keyword when researching is "selfbow"

If you make your own bow be VERY careful. Use flexible woods, preferably yew. Most hardwoods will snap under pressure and splinters will fly everywhere, maybe including your face. Thats very bad.

I've thought about making it with bamboo sticks, you can find those at any gardening shop.

I'd trust bamboo more than oak.

Oak is actually a pretty common bow making material. It worked great for me... It's just as flexible as bamboo when you cut it to the same thickness (in my oppinion).
Bamboo garden stakes will work fine! I was going to make mine from bamboo, but I'm too much of a purist :nlol:

I'd trust a professional craftsman to make a bow out of anything, but for a novice I'd stay away from anything but yew or bamboo.

Take up Parkour.....
As a martial artist for 5 years now, I've recently tried out parkour.... it really requires you to focus and find balance in everything; while it really helps out in the physical aspect, such as building up muscle tone, strengthening your cardio, etc, it also changes the way you look at surrounding environments. Patience, balance, calmness, all essentials to getting a good run-up to a wallrun or a vault, also help in other things that are unrelated to parkour. Hey if you're still young, mildly fit, and want to have a sense of the physical demands that the Navi face everyday, Parkour's the sport for you!

Vylvan thanks you for the info...I am hardly the most fit person in the world, but after reading about parkour I have becomed curious and inspired...I'll see if there's any club here in Essex (UK) and may be give it a try.
