View Full Version : Suggestion Maximum Images Per Post

Is it possible to have the limit that's set on the maximum images per post (currently 4) disabled, or atleast have the limit increased? I'm not sure what purpose the restriction serves because usually members will just post again immediately after with the rest of their images if they have more to post.

Thoughts?

I agree but I guess maybe its because some computers have a hard time loading alot of images? But then again almost everyone around here has signatures soo..

Btw alittle off topic but your avatar makes me laugh everytime i see it. lol

Couple of thoughts:

As it relates to large(er) inline images, I prefer that we retain a limit. People are free to create a second post to include those, and depending on how many posts are in the thread already, that additional post may span to a second page of the thread.

I enjoy seeing the images as much as the next person, but not if they're huge (unless done as an attachment or link instead). I have a crappy, slow laptop that chokes on big images. Smaller images are another story entirely.

I would like to see some kind of a smart limitation on the size/number of included images. When I do a multi-quote of several posts, if each post has included one or more smilies, my multi-quoted post is almost always rejected for having too many images. This means I have to go in and start editing others' posts to remove their smilies so my post can be accepted. This is annoying and I'd love it if there was a fix.

Hehe ;). Indeed I suppose it could have something to with that, but there are a few members around that have signature images which are ~8MB in size but I suppose if your connection is pretty slow you might have abit of a problem, but you'd have to on something crazy slow to have problems I'd imagine. I'm only on something like 8 mb/s connection and every loads pretty quick for me.

I made a suggestion (http://www.avatar-forums.com/suggestions-support/4989-auto-image-resize.html) some time ago that addressed a fix to larger images in posts which might help for members such as yourself, but it wasn't addressed at the time, although there was apparently an update to incorporate something similar I have yet to see it take effect. I agree that the fact smilies are included in size limit is one of the annoying parts of the limit, surely if it's set to something like 10 along with something which can resize users images (temporarily, see the link to my other suggestion) this would suffice?

My computer does. And in fact, hate to say it, but turning off signatures was one of the first things I did after registering here.

I know many put a TON of work into them and I totally respect that - but so many are huge, animated images that really become quite distracting over time.

I have a simple text signature with a message I quite like, but I never get to see it having turned off signatures. :nsad:

I'd be fine with a higher limit. AFAIK there's no way to tell the difference between small and large images (at least, not without writing something yourself) though.

*shameless bump*

Has there been anymore thought on this one, staff? Earlier I had to post a load of images and it took about 4 posts or so to get them all in. Just seems messy :(
