I honestly wasn't sure where to put this post. I actually just found this site yesterday, and signed up today because people seem very open minded here.

I'm here because I'd like to introduce something I've created. You see, for a long time I've believed in a creator (God) and an energy, such as Chi, as described in Taoism. For nearly 13 years I've wanted to find some sort of common ground, a term that could describe them both, but have been unsuccessful... that is, until I saw Avatar.

The idea of Eywa seems to encompass a great many religions we have here on Earth. She is both the creator and spirit of Pandora, as well as the energy that flows through all living things.

It is not my intention to create a new religion, but rather to hopefully come to a better understanding of the ones we already have, to unite them in some way. I've started small, with a website that contains a brief explanation of what I think Eywa is, and included links for those who want to find a similar way of thinking. I'd very much like to hear what other people think Eywa is, and include that on the site.

It can be found here: The Way of Eywa (http://eywangahu.atspace.com)

Earth = Gaia...same as Eywa :)

The connection here is more psycho-spiritual than physical, that's the difference.

I agree with this.

I also agree with this.

...and given that I believe in the spirituality of nature, and Gaia, I was so happy to see Avatar, in which so much of nature's spirituality played a significant part.

You don't know how much of a relief it is to hear from people who aren't totally closed to the idea of Eywa, or Gaia for that matter (or, let's face it, spirituality).

I'd really like my website to become more than it is, since it's only my own perspective. If any of you would like to post something here or pm/email me something you'd like to say, I'd be happy to put it on the site.

Well, the huge lack of spirituality is what actually destroys the world. We don't lack smart people, they're enough of those, but most are *blind*, either from birth or through indoctrination.

Also I think it's good to mention that I like your site and ideologies. Keep working on it and expanding, brainstorming etc.

I find your post very insightful and very deep. I'm glad that there are other people out there that are still in touch with something. I'm not here to disagree (although I don't necessarily believe in Gaia) however I want to encourage all of you. If you don't believe in anything spiritual, then how do you see meaning in life?

I'm afraid I'm going to be a bit blunt, but this thread is sort of off topic from the Na'vi Movement. You may want to check out the link below to the thread "The Eywa Theory". There have been some great discussions going on there about the concept of Eywa and how she can actual be present in our own lives.

I continue to welcome your posts, but I just want to say that the Na'vi Movement does not specifically lean towards any spiritual connection.

I think Eywa REALLY exists. You see, she is like mother earth, she is the nature she gives life and takes it. it is an religion that is not only in a movie. You can call her/him/it however you want Gaia or Eywa it is like the religion of old indians. So you dont need t ofound a new religion :nwink: it exists already. And i think that many humans are practicing this religion but call it different.

i would love to beleive that there is an all caring all loving mother out there, but i have received a message from my dead grandmother shortly after she died two years ago that the christian god is real, so i am afraid to beleive in the others. but i do beleive that he is not cold hearted as the bible says, we are his children and he will take care of us ( i mean no offence to anyone and in no way want to start a religous debate, i accept any and all religions)

i accept any and all religions

Well that's sort of the point. I have nothing against Christians or their religion. I just don't really agree with all their beliefs. I think most, if not all, religions limit God or Eywa in some way. I believe that the true God or Goddess is something far far greater than anything we can imagine.

Even if we do start calling it Eywa, it will still be a limited perspective, but I think it would be a little closer to the truth, as it includes a lot of separate ideas.

I tend to believe that most of the different versions of deities and spiritualities are all really the same thing, only seen and interpreted differently by different people. It's as if 20 people are standing in a circle around a tree. If they are looking up at the tree, they will all be looking at the same tree, but it will look different from all different angles.

I used to discuss spirituality at length, with one friend who is a Christian, and another friend who is a Muslim. And I believe in Gaia, as well as in reincarnation. We could still find so many same things that we were relating to in our respective beliefs. Yes, I am sure that when the Christian dies he will see that the Christian God is real, the Muslim will see that the Muslim God is real... and I'll probably find out that Gaia is real, before I get reborn for my next life.

But yes... I belive in Gaia... although I am more tempted to call her Eywa now. :)

Like you said, I also believe that God, or whatever we might call it, is far greater than we can imagine so far.
I don't practice any religion, not because I have something against them, which is not the case, but because I tend to find some answers on my own.

I believe in something similar to Eywa or Gaia, but in a more astronomical or universal magnitude. I have this idea of the Universe as a big machine, and everything within it has a purpose, including humanity. If we got "in tune" with this sense of the universe, which is only a way to understand it and understand one another, we may not find the true purpose of the universe, but at least we micht find some peace in knowing that we are not alone. I think that all religions seek for this kind of peace or "communion" with a higher power, which is in my opinion, a noble purpose, but sometimes they deviate from it, and I don't think we will ever get to a true knowledge of what God really is.

But that's just my opinion.
