In the 15 years i have lived, i have gone through much, i have learned much, i have meet many people. But one thing that has always been at the back of my mind during my entire life, no matter how much i learned, grew or socialized was this....

Humanity was meant for so much more...

Although many of you think, yeah yeah, i know we screwed up our planet blah blah we should've been more environment orientated, but whats done is done. And that is true, what's done is done, and thats a fact.

But what's not a fact, is who we are as a race now. We are what we are, but that is not a permanent fact. Sure, we are a capitalistic world, with nothing but success and money on our minds. Even those who are environmentalists, need to invest into the economy to accomplish their goals for this planet. It's the modern truth, and the truth hurts...

But We were meant for so much more!

And i'm not just talking about taking care of our world and being responsible for all our actions. That's a given. But what i mean, is we were meant for so much more as living, breathing, feeling Humans. We were meant to be so much more than we are now, as far as the realm of Love and Compassion go. We are greedy, lustful and violent. Everything that would be classified as being an Animal.

Though many will say we have advanced as a race hugely, i don't feel we have. We definitely have technologically, and military wise. But as far as being a true Human, we have devolved, if anything.

Being human means being able to accept others as they are and being able to accept yourself for who you are. Being human is the ability to reason and rationalize in a way that transcends any ability an Animal possess'. But most importantly, being human is the ability to Love, truly love others. Truly love everything. Unconditionally. Humans are the one exception to the barrier between instinct and love. But we no longer realize that.

Love will forever be taken for granted for as a normal feeling, when really Love is not just a feeling. It is a connectedness that transcends anything you have ever experienced. That's what being human is all about, transcending the regular experience of instinct to the level in which we can judge and take action through our Hearts, not just our heads..... In this case, i mean spiritually. Put economics and politics aside for a second, and really consider yourself... Do you value everything it means to be human?

In all my life, i have wondered what we were really meant for. And i tell you now. We were meant for each other.

We were meant to soar on the wings of others. We were meant to love one another as if they were our own flesh and blood. We were meant for so much more, because we no longer realize where we stand as a creation.

Humanity is no longer a term we can use to describe ourselves, because to me, Humanity means being united under the connectedness of each other. Forever wiling to do what it takes to live in harmony.... We now live the complete opposite.

My name is Liam, and i was born to be a part of you. As you me. Our hearts used to beat as one, but now they are out of sync, lost in the confusing lie that is society.

Look into yourself, discover your humanity, and discover what you were meant for...

Because We Were Meant For So Much More.

When someone is seen, they are not heard. When someone is heard, they are not seen. That's what we are now, a mix of either, but what humanity is, is the ability to see and hear everything for what they are. To truly listen to the heart beat of life and it's graciousness. To truly see the beauty and purity of this world.

We are Human by definition, but We Were Meant for So Much More.

I am a part of you, you are a part of me. We are one. I See You. Always.

"When i get older, i will be stronger, they'll call me freedom."

:nsmile: This post describes everything I have felt ever since I was a kid... I have waited for a very long time for this moment... I applaud you for waking up to your own potential as well as of others. Now, I'm going to wait and see how others fare with this... Many will agree with you, I'm sure. My soul is meant for this ideal and it will never rest until this is reached to its fullest potential, this I assure you. :)

Let's give him a round of applause everyone! :D He deserves it!

i must say you seem very wise for your age :). i was kind of like that too.

i do think life and we as humans, have so much more to offer than what's on the superficial surface. i think if people did a little more "soul searching" we would realise there is so much more. the world and what it has to offer can be so beautiful. plus, i think we have negative things in life to balance out the positive and so we can truly understand and appreciate the good. it's like this Buddhist quote, "whatever you do, you do to yourself", meaning that everything is connected and reflects back to you.

I agree with you, again, of course haha
Its so easy to get caught up in everything that can take us away from our true nature, and its a lot harder to go back to that. I guess its just much easier to hate or not accept someone than it is to love and accept them. Its a shame thats how it is.
Also, you are very wise for your age :)

He is.. He reminds me of myself when I was his age. I for one am glad that he's here. Liam has a wonderful contribution to make, as well as each one of you. I never felt like the world was up to standards due to its superficiality in life. It was never heart-filled nor did it have the correct soulful feeling inside... The Buddhist quote you put up deems accurate in today's world, especially after the Avatar viewings and its impact they had on them. Hence, I agree with what your post said. :) Keep it up! :D

That we do. Because we all know humanity could do with some internal truth. But more so, we need people like you, who have already realized this. And support those who are just coming to the conclusion of who they are and what thee are meant to be.

I thank you. :)

*nods* We have been missing this for far too long... His post is refreshing to see as we oftentimes go back and forth between this world of Avatar/the forum and Earth. It is tough to contain this feeling and spread it in a world where there lies suffering, greed, ignorance and imbalance of power. Through this post I am reminded of an extremely powerful saying in which I will put up here.

"Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, and have not Love, I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal. And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries, and all knowledge; and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, and have not Love, I am nothing. And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, and have not Love, it profiteth me nothing" (verses 1-3) Corinthians

The very feeling within our souls stir this Love throughout the entire universe and within us. It has been said that the universe breathes through us, and we should never take it for granted... It's time now to take responsibility for ourselves and reach out, maintain the feelings of our souls as Love and continue on for all eternity...

Bless you everyone... May Ewya be with you always...

It's such a shame that more people can't comprehend these simple concepts. We need so many more people like you in the world, but especially here in the United States. Stay strong - stay the course. The dynamics of what life is meant to mean has changed drastically in the last 100 odd years. While I agree with you and can see the wisdom in what you write (OP) the hard facts are that life as we know it has changed and evolved drastically.

What is the meaning of life anymore?
The answer to this question is why there is such an emphasis on religion in our world. I am not suggesting religion is bad but simply stating that millions of people around the globe do not understand or do not know how to accept the very fact that our life is quite meaningless. Most of us wake up get to work, come home eat, sleep and recycle. What this results in is the question that what are we meant for, surely we are here for some greater story or something more profound! Religion gives people answers that we are afraid to look at even if it slaps us in the face

Is our planet dying?
Yes our planet is dying, sure there are heaps of places on our planet that are flush with natural beauty but year after year these small pockets of natural wonders are being torn apart. The world's current ecological system is at near death and our expanding rate of population is only placing added stress onto what is not supportable. If I quote a line from the popular movie "The Matrix"..."Humans are not mammals, we are a virus that spreads and destroys everything around us

What is our nature?
Although every human being has compassion, feelings of accomplishments, happiness etc at the root of it majority of people are disgruntled which results in misdirected feelings of hate and unhappiness. This is mostly due to the conditions of survival that are placed upon us from a very early age. The formula it seems is we need to grow up faster to work faster to earn faster to ensure our life leads somewhere through the misguided interpretation of money being “the be all end all factor”. It is unfortunate that it is how it is but without money nothing seems to work on our planet. It is for this reason (the human rat race) we are destined to grow further and further away from reality and nature to become more and more known as mindless zombies working in a system which ultimately is not self sustaining.

We can not acknowledge we are better than what we show to each other as unfortunately modern society has so many pressures built into it for sustaining the system that we can not simply follow our hearts... Sad but the truth...

I would love to practice what I see is my inner heart, to be happy and one with the planet and all that surrounds us, but unfortunately if I do so I will be crushed in a matter of seconds... :(

Never have I seen a speech so unique as this, nor (now that I think about it) as true. By stepping up and voicing out what you are feeling, I believe that you bring us all closer together. You delivered a message that we all needed to hear, but no one put into writing yet. I wish that I could be as smart, wise, and "deep" as you (we are, afterall, the same age).

If we had more people like you, who could help unite groups of people together, then I think that we would all be able to see friends and strangers alike more clearly. You are a one of a kind person. I've never seen someone our age who could shed light on matters such as these more clearly than you have. In fact, I've hardly seen anyone at all who could deliver such a deep message like yours. You are a rare person. Rare in that you are one of the few people who see that we are meant for so much more.

This is the reason why we have this forum. :nsmile: We are here to learn to open our hearts as a community and as FAMILY... Liam is doing this superbly and we should all learn from his example. I know for a fact that this world will change within a decade or so and everything will be tipsy turvy. I don't know where I get the facts, but my gut pulls at this so strongly that I can't deny it. There are many structures that need changing, and it's well under way. :) Don't you worry about it. :nwink:

The people that take a step backwards, are those who have Fear. And the people that climb, are also those that have Fear. But the difference is that those who choose to climb, are the ones that realize Fear is Courage, and courage is the key to discovering the core of everything you are. Be afraid, but really understand what it means to be afraid, and work with it, rather than against it.

Well said Brother. I'm amazed with your kind and true words each day. I have gone through a bit of a spiritual transformation myself. Granted I always strived to be kind to each and every person that came across my way but I still judged, I still ridiculed from afar, but no more. Instead I try to "see" others, to view the world through their eyes, to give them 100% compassion and understanding. When I see a hurt soul, I no longer will look the other way. It warms my heart to see another who feels the same and more.

The main thing that I can not get over about being human, is how animalistic we really are. Whenever I think about our love for others, I can't help but see how shallow and instinctual it is. If you think about why we even "truly love", it is because it is in our genes. It is an instinct to keep our species from dying out. This is how I feel about it anyway and it makes me feel empty. Like you said, "We were meant for so much more".

The reason I get so absorbed when I watch Avatar is because the Na'vi love in a way that is not necessarily instinct-driven. Especially between mates, the "ultimate intimacy" is not a reproductive dance like it is for humans, it is something more.

I've felt like a freak a lot of my life because I was never aggressive in life, I never wanted to fight for my own self-interests. People make you feel like a loser for being that way. They call you naive, if you trust. But why would I ever want to live in a world where everyone is turned against each other, without fighting for something better?

So thank you for standing up for me and all the other "freaks" in the world. I guess we're not so strange after all.

No, strange is a word so used out of context these days it's ridiculous. Strange, is a word we can use to describe those that judge. Judge those that seek truth and meaning. THAT is strange..

I assure you, you are not, and never were strange, simply gracious in the great wonder that is life. You were never a freak, either. You were one of those who truly questioned what we were meant to be, and realized through trust, we gain connectedness. And i once again say, you were never strange, or a freak.

But a beautiful angel trying to spread it's wings.

you left me speechless...
This is what I've been searching all my life. I always had this feeling inside of me, you just put the words together to describe it. If only there were more peoples like you, we would live in such a beautiful world. You are quite young, but still have learn a lot from life. It's been a while since I felt this way but you really inspired me !

I'm gonna speak for everyone in saying this place wouldn't be the same without you.

He is a special guy at the young age of 15 to make these points:) I almost feel this is the true spirit of what is human... untainted and un-abused. Hopefully we can learn to shift our view as his and most importantly as Liam gets older and gets involved in working he does not loose the wisdom he has now:)

I am 29 years old and I remember so clearly wanting to join the green peace when i was 16 and go to Antarctica, to jump in the cold freezing water to save just one whale. I was willing to give my life up for what i absolutely believed in.

I remember i was very passionate and emotional over what i felt my heart move towards. Unfortunately from the age of 19 up until i saw Avatar a part of me was dead, the part that just blindly followed the heart. I got forced into joining the rat race and confirming to what society expected of me.

Part of me thanks Liam for further getting the message out there, but i can not help but feel reserved and gaurded :( Not knowing if i will be dumped on my butt again 10 years later for following my heart again.

I guess what i am saying is i have possibly lost the zeal for following my heart..Stuck in a job i do not like, only to pay bills!!! I want to be free but I am struggling to even fathom how i would become free:(

That is why I am here, working... To help free the people here first and then spread my message out to the world. There is absolutely nothing wrong with following your heart's desires. You wouldn't be having them if you didn't. :nwink: I for one, refuse to be a part of it. I may continue working for the system, but I will only be using it to carry out my mission and that is to free my people... The best way for you to be free right now, is to live in the moment. That is the only thing you CAN do for now. Read and brush up on spiritual books to free yourself from the shackles of the mind, for its very conditioning is what pulls you back from your very soul time and time again.

Live in the Now... Take control of your own destiny by first mastering your mind and its heavily imposed conditions. Never mind what your mind or other people say to you, what is important is YOU and YOU only right now, right this very moment... It will try to pull you back by saying 'you can't do this' or 'you can't do that' and all it will try to do is leave you in the dust... Will you accept this as your destiny by what some insecure mind says or will you follow what your heart already knows deep within you...?

That is the question... You know the answer. Now follow it...

I will be with you every step of the way... :)

I have to say I'm 21, I still have acouple years left, but I've always felt the same. I never would want to do much cause everywhere I went it was 1 person excited to make a difference and people would basically say, "sounds like a good idea," and keep on walking. They would end up feeling as though no one really cared (cause they didn't have the Avatar-Forum), and they could make a difference, but by then they just felt as though people had invisible ear plugs. I am greatful to say I haven't lost my wonder with the world, but never really noticed a chance to do anything about it cause it seemed I had to go onto the next thing, work hard (or barely pass), and just make it through. Enough is enough I say! Time to get up off of our couches, porches, whatever and do SOMETHING it doesn't have to benefit you! There are other people in this world than those on the tube, magazines, and news! They are just right outside, love them even if they think your mentally ill or been bitten by a halucenigenic Pandora spider! I don't mean go out in the street and hug a random person, you're liable to get shot! I mean do something good for someone else! Then once you feel that you've done enough... do more! If this was how we lived people wouldn't need drugs or other crap to help them feel better or forget, but other people and a beautiful world to share it with! (Just don't forget to post a message or 2 here every now and again, 'cause we all need people who'll support us!)

Humanity was meant for so much more...

We were meant to be so much more than we are now, as far as the realm of Love and Compassion go. We are greedy, lustful and violent. Everything that would be classified as being an Animal.

But most importantly, being human is the ability to Love, truly love others. Truly love everything. Unconditionally. Humans are the one exception to the barrier between instinct and love. But we no longer realize that.

Love will forever be taken for granted for as a normal feeling,

In all my life, i have wondered what we were really meant for. And i tell you now. We were meant for each other.

We were meant to soar on the wings of others. We were meant to love one another as if they were our own flesh and blood. We were meant for so much more, because we no longer realize where we stand as a creation.

Look into yourself, discover your humanity, and discover what you were meant for...

"When i get older, i will be stronger, they'll call me freedom."

As I've been saying, our mental existence is 86% of our mental capacity. That is what you are describing, is being more aware of our unconscious existence. The ancients had specific techniques and it can create feelings exactly like those you had about Avatar directly from your own life experiences as you dedicate to living the life you describe.

Living freely is a choice that you can make. In a spiritual and emotional sense you can start right away, there is no need to wait. Just do anything and everything you can to help humanity and nature. Volunteer when you have the time and make it something your passionate about as this will give you so much satisfaction.

Help a total stranger for no reason. I was in line at Subway and just decided to pay for the person in line behind me for no reason whatsoever, not evenfor the thanks because I made sure to walk out before they noticed (and im not financially secure by any means). The simplest things can help. I was walking back from class eating a soft pretzel and saw two squirrels going through a trashcan for food. I broke off two pieces of my pretzel and saw them runoff with it. Sure I could have eaten that but I'll live. These may be corny stories but they are the things that I find satisfy my spirit.

Accept a lifestyle that is better aligned with who we as humans were meant to be. And do it despite all those ho tell you its wrong. Do it because in your heart of hearts, you know it to be true. However gradual the process may be, commit yourself to it and you won't regret it. If that means finding a more fulfilling career then so be it. Don't live the next ten years as blindly as you say you have lived the last ten.

Liam's words inspire me to be a better human being. You are truly wise beyond your years and I am very grateful to have met you, if only over the internet.

Gavran, I so very clearly understand your perspective. I am 29 as well, and after college I became part of society, and had to play the part that made sure I was successful, not necessarily the part I wanted. It was hard not to become disillusioned of all the good I was going to do in the world...society dictated something else. Seeing Avatar reminded me of who I used to be, of the person I had lost over these years, the person who loved others simply for being themselves, who was quick to forgive, and ready to listen, and to show love and empathy for anyone in need because how could that be wrong? I had fallen away from these things, and realizing that was an indescribable pain to me.

Then I found this forum. I could talk about things I saw and felt from the movie...and then I could talk about my feelings as a whole. And the people here have done nothing but encourage me to be the true me, and have accepted me for it. I feel free for the first time in a very long time, because of this place, and I feel again so hopeful, and that I am *not* alone in this!

I know it's hard to believe in the good things in life when there is so much negativity out there, every day. Believe me, I understand. But I hope you can take some comfort and encouragement from the good happening here, and let it flow through you to those around you once again.

Spoken from the heart, Lolorz. And although you may not feel it is enough, I say, one person, especially a young person like you, makes far more difference then you realize.

I was 15 a long time ago. I wanted to save the world so badly it burned. I lacked the patients and wisdom to see that i was part of the solution. I cared. Be it helping a lady bring groceries upstairs, or helping a lost dog get back to his owner. I was impacting the world with love and compassion. I didn't see that then.

Right now, Lolorz, you are out there in the world. You champion things that make sense, you inspire hope in those who have been mistreated. You do alot more then you think. But you won't be able to see that at 15. The engine of a 15 year old runs so hard, so fast, everything is a blur.

And lastly, your not alone.

To be less than who I am right now is to squander my true self... I wish this under no circumstances with anyone. If I do, then it is the inner workings of the ego and not the true 'I'. That which the mind displays and tries to tip-toe itself around your soul isn't the truth of who you are at your core but rather a facade or a mask that hides or covers this inner Being that you are... All that matters is to feel it, and through this we will all know the difference. Consider a sparkling shiny sky blue diamond covered by mud and you will catch a glimpse of what I mean. We are all that diamond at our very core but due to its mucky muddy cover-up, most of us never know our true inner beauty that radiates and shines throughout. We need to take away all the layers and the sludge, then clean it and polish it so we can finally see what we are meant to feel...

*hugs*

I agree mostly with this post. The way our society is currently set up is we all have to go out and get jobs in order to gain money which we trade for things we want as a substitute for having to hunt our own food & build our own homes. The thing is I say the majority of people do not reach for the stars despite their heart giving them passion for something they would love to do. They get the job to get the money, and from there the depression sets in.

Where I disagree is the opinion that we cannot follow our hearts. This is completely wrong. You can always follow your heart if you have the courage. What the op is saying is they've lost the courage to listen to their heart and stating his/her inability to do so as a universal fact.

I completely agree with your disagreement.

First off. Great post Lalorz :)

Deep down you and I seem to share many thoughts. And we are close in age, as I am only 16. Probably less than a year older.

I'll leave this quote to show my thoughts.

"You're a slave to money then you die." - "Masterplan" -Oasis

You can be more, you can love, you can experience, you can be joyed, wowed, awed, shocked, and you can be moved. Love breaks the bonds.

Thank you brother, that was a great quote. And you are right, Love is what tears down the divide between what right, and what is easy.

Lalorz, Liam, oel ngati kameie tsmukan.

You are an embodiment of "pay-it-forward". Do you see what affect you have had simply by posting in an online forum? You put into words perfectly what I've always felt, but have never been able to properly express. I only wish it was as easy to captivate the general public and the "sheeple" of the world. Hopefully someday they will also wake up.

Thank you for your courage to speak what your heart feels, especially in an environment as hostile as the internet. I've said it before, and I'll say it again; this community is truly something special. Much love to everyone! :)

Thank you brother, and i hope so too. We all need to wake up in order to stop this nightmare we call living. We do not live anymore, we simply breath to make money. But i will spread my words as much as possible, hoping to wake these people up.

Everyone can do the same, you are all pure in heart and mind, we can all make a difference. I thank you brother, you are with me through your words.
