Or is it available for any director or project to utilize on their own films? Cuz I'd like Cameron to have dibs on it whenever he wants to begin shooting for "Avatar 2". I'd hate to hear that "uh-oh... Cameron can't start filming until Michael Bay is done using it for Transformers 3.", etc.

Ya know what I mean, Verne?

I watched alot of Autodesk's products feature vids.
Many studios use motion capturing.
One studio had a virtual camera too.

I'm sure with the amount of money Cameron has made Fox with this film I'm pretty certain they would be willing to jump him in ahead of the que or invest in another set of the technology.

The way I understand it he helped develop the technology used in the first avatar film. He showed it to Jackson and Lucas, they liked what they saw and are now thinking about using it to.

If anything they'll have to pay him to use it. :ndevil:

This. I don't know for sure who owns the idea, but I'm willing to bet JC has at least some control.
It could always be licensed out anyway, with multiples. There doesn't just need to be one (there probably isn't just one anyway)

You cant reserve a technology, you have to share it, but you can get paied fees for it.
But if law would allow to reserve technologies, we wouldnt have come so far.
