I used to be so interested in going to the cinema, every friday seeing a new movie, but now i realise most of them are only a fragment of the greatness of avatar, the next movie i am looking forward to is its release on blu ray.

I can understand that...not really feeling the same thing though. I saw Sherlock soon after Avatar...didn't really think it was anything special, but I still enjoyed it a lot.

I feel the same way. Other movies are all right but I'm judging them by how I feel watching it.
Avatar is the wealth of this world, to me, right now.
Then again, I'm drunk atm..

I feel exactly the same, I doubt any film can make me the feel the same as Avatar.

I'm not totally alienated. I went to see Sherlock Holmes on Friday and wasn't completely repulsed by it's not Avatar-ness. Still it was nowhere near as good! But the release of Avatar on DVD will be a big date on my calendar

I've just gone out and spent £1500 on a new TV so BluRays will look better and more immersive. My future ventures to the cinema will always be compared to the experience of Avatar, hopefully film makers will step up to the mark and deliver some great cinematic expreriences.

Same here, I feel no need to see any other movie at the theaters.

Yea, I have not seen anything besides Avatar since the first time I saw it. I just feel like every movie is going to be inferior :)

im not alienated at all. i feel the same about Avatar. for me its the greatest film of all time (until Avatar 2 comes out) but im really really really looking forward to seeing Clash of the Titans, and the Hobbit. Seen Sherlock. thought it was very good, but no lovely trees, no Na'vi, and no Neytiri or Trudy.

I was noticing I'm having the same hesitation, we did go she Sherlock, and while an ok movie (and I wasn't expecting it to be other), decided I'm not ready to 'Move On' past Avatar yet, wanting to hold on to the experience as long as I can, and afraid that just going to the movies to see a movie will somehow minimize the impact feeling.
But that said, I must admit I really think I want to see The Rock in the Toothfairy, just to break it up a bit and laugh.

I'm still looking forward to many up and coming movies, and for what they're worth they should probably be good- especially the first installment of The Hobbit, being the huge Lord of the Rings freak I am.

I have an exceptional ability to separate fiction and reality, and I can watch (and appreciate) any film as a single entity, and not within a wider comparative framework. It is an ability I am very much thankful for.
I haven't seen a film in the theatre since Avatar, however, I'm also back at school and lack the time (and the funds) to see new movies all the time. I have watched a couple seasons of Bones, V for Vendetta, and Watchmen at home though, and I have enjoyed all of them.

Avatar ruined the theatre going experience for me. I will never be the same. Screw you James Cameron!

Well, I CAN watch other movies, after avatar, but now I always say to myself something like "Well, this movie is nice, but Avatar is much much much better..." ))) So I can understand you. Just continue watching movies, everything is gonna be OK)

Every movie has something different to show so it didn't really ruin it for me, so long as I don't try to go in expecting another Avatar or comparing it to Avatar.

I rarely watch any films at the cinema except avatar, the last one I did go to see befor Avatar was the 11th Star Trek film. I can't even remember what the last film before Avatar I went to see and was glad I did was...

I know how you feel. I'm in a similar situation. There are a few other movies I want to see as well, but it would be just too strange to see anything else while Avatar is still playing.
