just wondering if anyone noticed this...jake basically handed home tree to the sky people and destroyed their home and a few lives in the process. but he gets praise instantly when he comes back on ta'ruk?

i know the story of ta'ruk makto gathers the clans in a time of great sorrow but shouldnt there have been a little bit more animosity with his arrival?

in times of great need, and with a sign that big... i think his praise was justified.... he basically said "sorry" by saving the many clans... that's a big "im sorry"

I think no Na'vi will destroy a hope that helps them resist human's attack.

The only thing that he really gave them that they used was about the Tree of Souls. A tree is a tree, they did not need to know the structure and whats inside. They were all there praying, and him showing up like that was like their prayers had been answered.
Also Toruk Makto is like second to Eywa to the Na'vi, and a sign of a true warrior and his dedication to the people.

It's only happened 5 times before.
Toruk makto is BIG news.

They would have destroyed the Tree of Souls and Hometree regardless of Jake's information.

I don't think any of the Na'vi knew that Jake had been giving information to Quaritch about Hometree. All they knew was that he'd known the attack would come all along and had tried to warn them. If they'd known he was spying I doubt he would have been left alive long enough to tame the Taruk (or however you spell it).

I agree, they just think he with held information from them... but that should not be punishable by death. If they knew he was spying, then yea the way they acted would be justified.

I guess we are lucky that they didn't find out. Would have been a rough ending to a great movie lol ;)

I think the Omoticaya were able to realize the circumstances and also take into account Jake's actions, so they didn't respond as violently as they might otherwise have. Withholding information isn't exactly actively malicious in the same way as spying, especially when you're trying to save people.

Yeah, it would have sucked for our hero to be executed and then everyone else to be slaughtered. The last 40 minutes would have been kind of ruined. :(

Only slightly haha. I swear after Jake and Grace were pulled from the machines after the tree was destroyed, the screen fades to black and I was so scared they were gonna end it there. I was like WTF...but then it kept going.

You underestimate the power of the Force....

Seriously, this story has a lot of mythic, archetypal elements. It doesn't always follow precisely the path of mundane-world logic, but the logic of faerie tale. The Na'Vi have such a strong spiritual sense that the arrival of Jake on the butt kicking dragon of all time trumps all other mistakes he may have made. Note that when Neytiri first meets him, she's ready to kill him; then the woodsprite lands on her arrow. I knew it was a sign...and it was followed by other signs, as well as other obvious attempts on Jake's part to do the right thing.

The undercurrent here is the unseen power of the Creative Force of Pandora, Eywa.

Yeah, they would have destroyed it even without Jakes inside knowledge.

I was convinced that none of the Na'vi actually thought Jake was spying on them in the first place; it was mostly because he was a "dreamwalker" that got to them and the entire woodsprite episode which makred him as different. I think people kinda missed that fact with the woodsprite was the equivilent of having a beam of light descend from heaven on him and marking him as special. Remember how Neytiri reacted when he told them what he was really doing; she was surprised and horrified at his betrayal.
