Hi there, relatively new member but have been reading every thread I can find on here for the past couple days (going to work notwithstanding). I used to belong to a car forum for my specific model car and we had regional forums with local threads to help us organize and go to car shows/races/etc.

I thought this would be a cool idea for us to see the movie for the umpteenth time with a group of like-minded people since some of our friends aren't quite as impacted as we are. I'll still be dragging my friends to see it. Added benefits include when the Blu-ray is released having a party for that, home 3D viewings for the lucky souls that go to the trouble to get that equipment. Even something as simple as having a BBQ for no reason (someone's b-day!), talking about the movie, it's just another way to make friends.

Oh and I live in Las Vegas, so having an Avatarcon is not out of the question.

Drawbacks being stalkers, usual crazies, and IRL trolls/flamers, but that's why we strap knives to our chests. I've actually never had a problem with anyone I've met through forums for a social event like this.

Yo what's up, Keiser. I noticed that this thread hasn't recieved much attention so I decided to make an effort.

Well, I can hardly say that this forum has expanded to the point that there are enough people required to make usage of a regional forum, however, when it comes to the idea of regional threads that seems to be more convincing. Threads would take up less of the forum's capacity and attract more people.

I do, unquestionably and respectufully, feel that I'm required to backup my original thoughts, upon saying that the forum hasn't expanded enough yet, maybe in a month it will have. We're recieving like 250 members a day at the moment, and that rate is accelerating. So I think that in a month or so we'll have at least 10,000 members, one month isn't too much of a wait though.

Thanks for the reply, just as a reference the forum I frequented before now has 29,181 members, the car model started in 2003 and I frequented it from 2004-2006, but no idea how many members we had around then.

If someone would like to take a look for ideas:

Typically they have an "official <state> thread" in each region and those members get to know each other pretty well, going to several car meets/shows a year, including some national ones getting to meet people from other regions.

I just noticed a trend of people feeling outcast from their friends if they didn't share the vision and this will be a good way to let that out.
