WoW! :) Sorry man, I might sound very ignorant and stupid right now, ^_^ But I'm really interested, it sounds great, can you tell me more about it please? :) Only if you want ^_^ I mean, has it been 'discovered' like right now, very recently after years of research and exploration? As far as I know it's an incredible discovery, means there can be life right? Does it mean they will try and build a base there? Can they even get there? I heard it would take years in space to get there.

No such thing as ignorance and stupid to someone who is interested.

The data was collected by the Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter in the form of images. The scientists have been working and observing this area for the past 3 years. It seems to get warm enough on in the summer to allow for ice to melt, this causes temporary streams along this slope. It can sometimes get to 70 degrees during short spells in the lower latitudes, which is HOT for mars. But yes, this is the first instance evidence for water flowing along the surface. There is water ice under the surface of half the planet. So an astronought could get his water from digging on large underground glaciers.

The sites show new streaks of water for a few months every Martian year. The source of the water is probably from underground.

Not sure about any bases, but yes it takes 6 months to get there with normal rockets. If you were to send a mission it would take about 2 years round trip.

water, really? great:good:now,we need to set up some atmosphere processors,o2 hydrogen generators, and maybe the next generation may see a colony there. life on the Red Planet!

So cool. It's kinda like science fiction in real life here, sort of.

LoL for the first part :nsmile: now seriously ^_^ Thanks for the reply, sounds good, still it's way to hot for humans to survive i'm guessing, but finding at least one source of water is the first main step :) Cool, I thought it took longer to get there, wow, are astronauts planning to land there sometime?

Its too cold, and the surface pressure is way too low.
