1000 post competition!

The forum has reached it's first milestone, a single thread containing over 1000 posts!

This Thread is under the RP section; "The Ikran Clans of the Sea"

Your mission, should you accept it, is to design a front cover for this story. The winner not only shall have his work used as the official front cover, the admins are thinking of some nifty prizes for the winner aswell!

Only rules are:
You have untill the 1st of February untill judging commences.
All submitted artwork MUST be posted here, if it's on another thread and not this one, it's not deemed in the competition.

Providing it is your work, you can use it in as many other threads as you like, as long as you post the art here for submission.

But as it is a front cover for the story, i cant really see how it can be used in other ways. (But hey, i'm no artist ^_^)

Sorry for the double-post, but Idster, would you describe Ja'ta as a more robust Na'vi or more of a scrawny kid? Or somewhere in-between? Or a robust head with a normal Na'vi body?

Here is Ja'ta's bio for everyone, if anyone else wants a bio of a character, then i'll happily go find it.

Species: na'vi hunter/ warrior
gender:male
age 20
Ikran:ja'tas ikran is purple with black stripe-likepatterns on the back and is loyal to his friend
personality: ja'ta is a sort of comedian of his clan but can hold his own in a fight he and his ikran share a very special bond almost like spiritual brothers
Background: when ja'ta was only about 10 years old alseep in the middle of the night he awoke to screaming, when he went to find his parent he saw his village burning and found his parents shot to death[ no idea what killed them] but then he saw the men who killed them and his people but reqalized if he went to attack them he would join his parents fate so he ran off. days later he was found by a village that lived by the sea, he was almost starved to death untll was treated back to health and was taught by the lead hunter lean the ways of the hunt and carries his fathers boy carved from the bones of his fathers first kill vowing to get revenge on the sky-people.

You can join in the RP if you want, but if the character isnt part of the story i dont think it would be wise to add them to a front cover.

No.....The artwork is for an existing story, which is one of the largest threads in the entire forum, under the RP section called "Ikran clans of the Sea"

As it has reached 1000+ posts im running this competition. hence the "1000 post competition" name

I have a question - should this front cover be designed using all user made material, or may we use for example pictures from Avatar in our work?

Rules are pretty soft. As long as the finished product that you submit is your work, then i see no problem with using other's art as part of it.

I'd say around...1024*768

seen as most people use 1280*1024. the above resolution will be perfect withot smothering the viewers screen.

In case something comes up, is it possible the maximum width size be 1024, while the length could be a bit higher than 768 since it'd only require one to scroll up and down if it were shown in its actual size?

No no, I mean maybe 1024 by... say, 1000? Plus or minus a couple hundred pixels regarding the up/down length shouldn't be a problem for others, should it? Of course, the width would stay within the confines of 1024 px.

I am SO SORRY. I've been frantic getting the poster together, after finishing all the characters. I'm posting it today. I know it's past deadline but I've been working on this as fast as I could... unfortunately not fast enough. I'm ALMOST DONE!!! Just give me 15 more hours today. EDIT: I know Jasiri looks very similar to A'kta, mostly because it's obvious I used the same eyes and nose for both. I tried tweaking things around a bit like the eye intensity, openness of the eyes, and a bit of the nose, but you can still tell... Anyway, did the best I could.

Took a grand total of 47 work hours. My longest project. Every face is made from scratch except the humans, and even the human pics aren't in their original form (different clothes, face color, etc.). Characters are in order from left to right as follows: Cyrris (bottom left), Kewong (top left, next to him is his human form), Asho (top right), Jasiri (bottom second to left), A'kta (bottom second to right), and Ja'ta (bottom right).

I couldn't fit in each character's ikran, though I did make them. So if anyone wants a pic of their character's ikran I've got it; just give me a holler. :) However, I did manage to fit Asho's ikran (top left) and Jasiri's (below Asho's).
