BBC NEWS | Science/Nature | Astronomers discover new planet (http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/7082257.stm)

The new planet is a gas planet about 45 times the mass of the Earth.

Their latest find is a fifth planet to add to the four they had already discovered around 55 Cancri, a double or binary star in the constellation of Cancer.

If the new planet, which has mild surface temperatures, has a rocky moon or moons around it, say the astronomers, then theoretically they could support liquid water.

Pretty exciting stuff! Not only does this new planet bring Pandora to mind, but if you read the rest of the article, they go on to talk about how they estimate an Earth-sized planet around 55 Cancri as well. It's only a matter of time/technology until we find out :nlol:

Well that's strange... I was linked to it from BBC's homepage and I figured it was new :/

By the way, where did you get those diagrams? Are they available for other systems as well?

I think in about 3-6 years, we will find microbial life or signs of past microbial life, and in all honesty i have a feeling it may be within our own solar system (the whole "Panspermia Theory" and what-not)....just a feeling

Of course i still have my fingers crossed at finding close Complex lifeforms :nwink:
