View Full Version : AVATAR themed restaurant

I'm sure many of you remember the Star Trek themed restaurant at the Las Vegas Hilton that closed I think last year. It was there for at least 10 years and slowly fizzled out until Paramount decided not to renew the contract.

Anyway what do you think about an Avatar themed restaurant designed and operated with all the elements of the movie, culture, technology and more? Considering there's going to be subsequent Avatar movies and branding opportunities I'm surprised no one has brought attention to this idea. As we know Avatar is not just a movie, it's a culture and lifestyle in itself. The branding opportunities with a location, say in Las Vegas, or Los Angeles would be tremendous in my opinion. I can invision elements of nature and technology and a brilliant eatery unlike no other.

What do you think?

Agreed. I invision a large nearly round room, some 15k square feet, tall painted cielings, sky-lights, two tiers of seating, outside patio seating surrounded by a waterfall. Foliage and trees throughout, multi-colored lighting, multi-sided fish tanks, moving cieling objects, lights, music, everything feels Pandora.

The entrance has large wooden doors with unique stores up the left and right offering exclusive Avatar merchandise. The menu will be written in both Na'vi and English including a kids menu, happy hour offerings, RDA style bar seating and technological highlights throughout. The building will be totally solar powered, utilizing the latest recycling tecnologies. Is it too much to ask? Spread the word!

I'd like to make a reservation. I would prefer something with a lofty view, and I would not mind sharing table space with Ikrans.

Sounds like a good idea, and yes it would need to cater for an RDA section as well, but if done well, the bioluminecence would make it an incredible dining experience.
The food could be served on leaf like plates, and the staff could be dressed according to Na'vi, scientist, Avatar and RDA styles.

Great idea.

Now that is an interesting idea and yes, I would go to a restaurant like that to have dinner.

(I'm just imagining the waitresses dressed and/or looking like Neytiri ...)

Honestly it sounds like a great place to take a date. I mean, if you went with a Pandoran night theme of course to bring the lighting down to a romantic level. I see many possibilities for bioluminescence, accent lighting, and waterfalls. Not to mention the many possibilities for structural design and architecture. Even if you were single I would imagine it to be a great place to go to just unwind and enjoy the scenery. Who wouldn’t want their very own Na’vi waitress? If this establishment had waitresses “dressed” as Na’vi women that would be a winner in my book and it would draw in a large crowd too. I almost never get out of the house, but I’d go to a place like that and frequent it often.

What would it be called? Something Avatar related of course, but what?

Pandora Nights… yeah that’s really good does anyone else have a suggestion? I’m unable to come up with anything else that sounds any better and I've been going over a lot of names. The RDA section could be called “Hells Gate” or “The Dragon.”

Edit:

“Come on down to The Dragon and get your slice of Papa Dragon’s Pizza!” :ntongue:

The RDA section might be a little offputting...

Epic idea! I'd definitely go there. I do have a concern though. I know it would be popular to start with but for how long could you keep interest in a place like that. I mean like you said the Star Trek one closed after 10 years due to lack of interest by the sounds of it. What would you do to stop the same thing happening to this?

Haha! I guess that would be a bit off putting. The Na’vi menu items would be alright until everyone realizes what teylu is. :nlol:

There's a rainforest cafe at Disneyland that I recal has a few elements like running water, animals, etc, all I'd like to see. Further the waiters could dress as RDA and the waitresses as Na'vi of course. A glimpse from the entry way looks down into a large dining area lowered several steps down. A large tree is in the middle with arms reaching up to the cieling and beyond. Elements of the forest in infinite color schemes dangle from the tree limbs, just like in the movie. The eyes from small creatures can be see peering out from time to time. Echoes of wildlife can be heard in the distance. It's sureal and gives you chills. Feel free to expand on these ideas and please post this idea elsewhere.

As an American, the idea of eating any kind of insect is gross for me. But I remember back when I was a kid and I thought Tomatoes were icky and gross. I was so revolted by their appearance I refused to even sample one. I only learned many many years later that Tomato is one of my favorite foods. I know bugs are different then tomatoes, but the same principle applies, until you try it you just don't know.

I'd try most things in a sauce of some sort. The melting pot does this vey well. They have multi-course dinners all using sauces of one kind or another. I'd definately like to see a x shaped all you can eat salad bar with both hot and cold items.

A prime rib night would also be nice with a cook slicing off pieces to order. Mmm makes me hungry.

i can envision it now..... i walk down a hall avatar merchandise on either side of me i will buy lots of stuff later i then walk into a very large open area in the middle tree of souls off to the side there is a place where you sit on the ground to eat a meal but there is not many people there (also there is a neytiri shrine to the left where many people are bowing down) i walk to my table and order some teylu (not really maggots there actually small chicken bits) and a redbull.... perfect> thats heaven right there

Sounds like a cool idea but in reality, it won't last. If there were a restaurant, I would attend every day. But until then, the local sushi restaurant has my $$.

i think teylu is more like a wichitigrub which has a nutty taste and is creamy on the inside so teylu can't be too bad :nsmile: oh and the Australian Aboriginies eat these alive but we see that the Na'vi barbeque their teylu ^_^ so it may taste different.

Fantastic idea Lon, and I think this would be so awesome. I can invision it in my mind already. While I do believe over time it would lose interest, whats wrong with having a restaurant open for a good 10+ years. Have good food, but not unaffordable, that way anyone who wanted to eat there could. If it was in LA or Las Vegas at some point Im sure many of the actors and actresses and crew would stop by to eat at some point.

I love the idea for it to be semi dark and the main sources of light coming from biolum (obviously fake) plants that are all over. A section for the RDA would be cool as well, maybe a large room with a couple of AMP suits to make you feel as if you were in Hells Gate.

This is an good idea! And maybe there are glowing plants too, and I mean REAL bioluminescence plants! There are already scientists who made a bioluminescence chrismas tree...i guess the avatar restaurant will be the first "tester" for this plants. That will be very beautiful!:)19658
