You know, ones like me. (Though I doubt many are quite so fanatical about the movie as myself)
Avatar (2009) (James Cameron's) - Extended Collector's Edition (3 Disc Set) @ EzyDVD (http://www.ezydvd.com.au/item.zml/816228)
We have to wait til November 24th. And yes, it could be worse, but the extra days are killer to someone as desperate as me to see 45 minutes of deleted scenes :P

Same,
But instead of waiting impatiently, I would class it as prolonging the anticipation:nlol:.....well we have to, we don't have much choce:nsmile:.
yep. and until then the Making Of Avatar book will keep me busy :nsmile: unfortunately i saw some of the bonus footage, which was the bar fight Jake gets into. I was watching the Scream Awards and they played it. I was going to wait until the Blu Ray came out but oh well, it was really short. Only 3 and a half more weeks :victory:

Yea it will fly by, but the hardest part is when everyone else on the forum starts talking about it, when they get their copies.
That week is going to be like "oh you have the extended edition and have seen the extra extended scenes, thats great news....you lucky bastard":nlol:.
It will be a long week.:nsmile:
D: i never thought of that. we're going to miss out on about a weeks worth of discussion >:( fffuuuuu

Wait… what?
I’m still trying to figure out why you guys have to wait until the 24th. That’s only nine days difference that is, but it still doesn’t make any sense. Or did I miss something? All the copies are ready they’re just waiting for the release date. Their shipments should have already gone out to retailer warehouses weeks ago to be ready for sale so that everyone can have their copy on the release date. (That’s how it would work in a perfect world). I almost failed business economics my senior year so what do I know? I have a "keep the consumer happy" way of thinking while big businesses have a "bend them over" way of thinking and that's why I almost failed that class. Luckily my teacher had a crush on me... I don't understand the release date differences with this just like I didn't understand the differences whenever it was being released in cinemas on different days.
No worries, I won’t be able to see it straight away either. I don’t have a blu-ray player and my DVD player gave it up because I watched Avatar one too many times. My birthday is November the 10th so I’m going for a blu-ray player and should have it just in time for the re-release.

It used to be a lot worse a few years ago, it would have been normal in some cases to get releases up to a year after the majors in the northern hemisphere. Thank heavens that illegal downloading has many of the major distributors over here worried, as now we get the majority of releases when the rest of the world does, sometimes now even before.
It works with Movie releases and TV shows as well, we see many now at the same time or only a couple of weeks after they're shown in the U.S.
You are so right about them having it in the warehouses before, as the movies are usually even shipped to the individual stores days before. I can usually pick up a new release DVD/Bluray at least three days before the official release date, from my local JB Hifi store.
BTW if I don't remember for the 10th, Happy B/Day and hope you luv your Bluray:nsmile:

Up to a year?! That’s just outright neglect. Well I’m glad to hear that it’s not as long of a wait as it used to be. It’s a shame it had to come down to illegal downloads to get things sorted out. I reckon as an alternative to illegal downloading some Aussies would order online over seas for some releases then. That’s what I would do in those circumstances. I couldn’t imagine a movie such as Avatar releasing here in the states on the 16th and then releasing in Australia a year later. I imagine there would be a protest if it had.
My aunt lives in California and I’m not sure if they still do this there, but they used to release movies on video way before anywhere else. So my aunt would buy the movie and have it sent to us. We would have the movie up to six months before it was in stores. As an example; the movie Independence Day was actually still a new release playing in our cinemas when my aunt sent us a copy because it had already been in cinemas and released on video there. :ncool:
Thanks for the birthday wishes m8 I really appreciate that. :nparty:
I’m sure I’ll luv my Blu-ray player. My old DVD player was ten years old so I defiantly got my moneys worth out of it. I feel that I’ve been missing out where movies are concerned though. The way I understand it the Blu-ray format is of a higher quality presented in full 1080p HD. It should be a real treat because I haven’t seen Avatar in five months so when I do see it I’ll not only be seeing it for the first time for a while I’ll also be seeing it in higher quality and in it’s extended version.
I’ll be a mess for sure. :nlol:

Oh, that's annoying. I have fic that kinda-sorta-really needs the deleted scenes! *sulks*
On the other hand, I can justify buying it as an early X-mas present, I guess. In the meantime, my dad's copy of the first release will have to do.

Oh you will be:nwink:it will betears of joy:nsmile:.
In regards to the improved release dates, the last eight years give or take, have been wonderful as the average wait before was usually 3-6 months, but it feels good if you can get copies of movies from online stores and mail order stores before the release dates.
Now looking at it that way a week doesn't seem that bad.
Ah who am I trying to kid:,(

Super impatient Aussies should hit their local Video Ezy this Monday, the 22nd. Most of them have new released on shelf a few days early ;)
I might pick up Toy Story 3, too.
