in its current application as a laptop screen is cool, but a bit unnecessary, however, the technology is there, we now have to be able to take this to the next level.

here is an update. if we combined the tech i mentioned before, and this....we could certainly have what was in Avatar.

this would be WIN on so many levels.

Its looks good, but wouldn't be that practical in most situations.

Thats cool, now just make it touch screen like my dads new computer, which is full wireless can be a tv, is only a monitor, you can drag and drop, drag with two fingers to make stuff bigger, its basically one of those touch screens in the movie without the see through lol

Very amazing...I guess image displays on glass walls/windows or windshields of different vehicles are also good applications, just like the movie. Seems like another life imitating art scenario.

Yeah, that flexible display is the future. Cant wait till you can roll up your tv and put it in your pocket.

Flexible displays already exist, as do basic transparent ones. It's certainly a logical progression. The thing I found impressive (although again, not outside possibility even in the near future) was the big holographic table.

Now that's a great idea! Hope you don't mind if I steal it :nlol:
I can have my own bioluminescent Pandora night to help me sleep.

Howd they make Sam Worthington's legs very thin? this was in one of the scenes where he wheels himself with a very somber look.

Those were prosthetic legs created by Richard Taylor of WETA Workshop. Sam's real legs were actually dropped down thru the seat of the wheelchair and digitally removed.

That's.......INTENSE! Is it transparent from the other side?
The tech is really starting to move forward on the transparent displays. I wouldn't be surprised to see something like this showing up in the next gen fighter or commercial aircraft as an evolutionary HUD.
My only requirement for something like that to be truly useful will be to figure out what what distance I'm looking through the screen and adjusting the focal length so I can continue to read the information while looking at the world. That of course is going to take a few years yet... at the least.

That technology has existed for awhile now on aircraft such as the F14, F15, F4, etc. It was called the HUD (Heads up display) that shown lots of relevant data to the pilot without him having to take his eye of the sky. It wasnt as high-end as this but the technology is mature but getting it to the consumer market is another story. I'd love to see a huge screen covering a wall. Cant see it until it turns on. :) You could literally make 3d movies by each wall being its own screen.

meh its kind of im practical because imo its a bit too transparent wereas the ones in the film were perfect
