I've been working on this for about 3 days... Why? I have no clue. The idea just came to me during the "Photoshop User Game". I put some Harry Potter glasses on Jake, and then BOOM. I had an idea.

So what you're about to see may shock you.

I don't know why I made this... I just did, and now it's done. It's modeled almost verbatim of the original "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" poster.

Btw, check out the credits. :p

EDIT: Here's a .gif of the comparison:

Good one. :) What is next a Thanator spoof of Ghost in the Darkness? That movie is about two killer lions in Tsavo back in the 1800s. Imagine two thanators in the same situation.

A good one would be spoof the Great Leonopteryx as a giant monster. For example look at Rodan http://images3.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20081218214443/uncyclopedia/images/thumb/f/fa/Rodan01.jpg/320px-Rodan01.jpg

On the contrary I'm actually going to do all 6 HP posters. Almost finished with "Chamber of Secrets".

...Since I've established some of the characters as certain people, i.e. Neytiri as Ron; Trudy as Hermione...

Guess who I've got as "Dobby".

It's finished.

Presenting the new look for "Chamber of Secrets":

Took a lot longer for this one since much of Jake and Neytiri's faces/bodies are completely redone.

And now, ON TO AZKABAN!!! :ndevil:

Well, guess no one commented on the last one. No matter though, BECAUSE...

After about two weeks of work, the third poster finished:

Again, a lot more detailing took a lot more time. Not as good as the first or second, but passable. :p

And check out the credits... and the "Wanted" poster of the "prisoner". ;) It actually took a few hours to do that WANTED poster, along with what it actually says (not just the header). But anyways, onward to the

GOBLET OF FIRE!!!!!!

Well woop-dee-do. IT'S HERE! Everyone! Everyone! Yes, after almost two months of work, it's finally done. Yes, the "Goblet of Polyphemus" is coming soon to a theater near you.

PRESENTING...

Yes, "Goblet of Polyphemus" sounds stupid. I couldn't think of anything else, and didn't want to ask. HOWEVER, after considering how truly stupid the title was, I finally decided to set aside half an hour to fix the title into something better. So, here's the alternate version of the fourth poster. (http://img40.imageshack.us/img40/5360/avatargobletoffirespoof.png)

Yes, I understand some of the characters are a bit blurry, but of the hours upon hours of searching for the right screencaps, this was the best I could do.

You won't believe... Jake is actually comprised of 13 different pictures. I don't need to say how many screencaps everyone else is made from...

I'm very tired. It's about 10am here. I've finished the last of the videos. I've made a complete video showcase of all the posters made so far, except the fifth poster. For that, instead of a showcase, I've made a two-part speed-progression video.

As I said, I'm really, really tired, as I've stayed up all night working on the videos, uploading, writing individual descriptions, making the .gif comparison file... so I'm going to be mean and NOT post the poster until after I wake up from sleep.

Instead, I'm posting the YouTube links to each of the showcase videos... and the speed-progression of the fifth poster.

And now, finally the moment we've all been waiting for (including me, after getting that much-needed rest :P), here it is. The "Order of the Phoenix/Avatar" Poster.

23535

Easy Link: http://img708.imageshack.us/img708/4280/avatarorderofthephoenixl.png

This takes the original "Order of the Phoenix" poster and combines it with Avatar characters and settings, set to the title "Jake Sully and the Order of the Omaticaya". FINALLY, the title isn't corny-looking! :D

This was (obviously) the hardest I've done, where screencapping was a bitch, and I also had to paint a few things manually. The speed-progression above really shows the process of how everything was does done, even though it's too fast to understand. :P

And man, I've gotta tell you... after you've worked with Neytiri so many times in photoshop, you don't see her as a real being anymore. At least, for me anyway. I mean, sure; when I watch the movie I accept her as "there" and love her character, etc. etc., but there are even some small snippets of times during the film where I say to myself in my mind something like, "That'd make a good long-shot."

But anyway, the credits are also finely detailed enough to take a second look... especially with the new "RDA FILMS" logo. Not much, considering it's just the RDA logo with the word "films" underneath, but still sort of... interesting, I guess. The "Jake Sully" main title was the most difficult of the title-making I had done up to this point, and even after tweaking it over and over, I still couldn't get it looking just like the original. I also still don't know how to soften the edges... and you don't do it with the "blur" tool; it's done with something else, but I really have no idea what. Any other photoshoppers that know how to soften the edges of something? :shy:

The characters are all represented by the original Harry Potter characters, staying consistant with the other posters. Here's the .gif comparison:

http://www.avatar-forums.com/images/imported/2011/02/1.gif

Harry Potter -- Jake Sully
Hermione Granger -- Trudy
Ron Weasley -- Neytiri
Ginny Weasley -- Unknown Iknimaya-Scene Na'vi Female
Neville Longbottom -- Horse Clan Leader
Luna Lovegood -- Mo'at
Cho Chang -- Unknown Na'vi Girl

The total amount of relevant time spent was approximately 19 hours. If including irrelevant time, which is time spent doing things that did not benefit the poster, like trial-and-error experiments that didn't work out, the true time is somewhere around 25 hours.

I absolutely loved every minute of work on this project. Hope you like 'em, and please enjoy the showcase videos and speed progression! :)

...And now,

ON TO THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE!

Well... this is a little embarrassing. I've been finished with the sixth poster for over a month now, actually, but I never found time to make a showcase video until today. So...

Presenting: "Jake Sully and the Half-Blood Avatar"

23536

Easy Link: http://imageshack.us/m/29/4707/avatarhalfbloodprincesp.png

This was the sixth poster I created in the Harry Potter/Avatar 'spoof' poster collection. This one splices Avatar with "Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince".

This, sorry to say, isn't really the best work of the series, I realize. It was put together in a bit of a hurry, and the background (you'll notice) is quite low-quality. This is because it came from the Avatar: A Survival Guide book; it's a picture of what earth looks like in the year 2154. Though this senario was presented in the Collector's Edition of the film, it didn't show the grandeur of it all (except the amount of people).

The credits are (again) finely detailed enough for a second look. However, one will notice how they look a little lopsided. I'm guessing that rotating them in Photoshop wasn't all it would take for them to look perfectly aligned, but as I said, this was put together in a hurry.

The title itself (Jake Sully) was the title I've spent the most work on as compared to all the other posters. VERY detailed. I wanted it to look just like the original. Sadly, I couldn't get all of it in as well as I thought I could, so some of the painstaking work I put into it is not shown because it either didn't completely fit on the poster (as represented in the original), or because Jake's head is in the way. To the onlooker, it looks pretty cool, I understand. But there's so much more to be seen in it that I couldn't include. Oh well.

Jake's face looks a little strange, too... I think it's because you can tell how the actual face used, as opposed to the eyes and the rest of the body, doesn't match EXACTLY. Just mentioning it to note that I do understand some of the oddities about Jake, not to mention the other characters.

As before, each character is represented as in the original poster:

http://www.avatar-forums.com/images/imported/2011/05/2.gif

Harry Potter -- Jake Sully
Hermione Granger -- Trudy
Ron Weasley -- Neytiri (Based on the first poster)
Dumbledore -- Eytukan

The total number of work hours is unknown. Screencapping (again) was difficult because I had no idea what I'd use next for the characters. After 5 posters, you really don't have much left, depending on the poses the characters are in. Happily, I found a way.

I'm not sure whether or not I'll be working on the first "Deathly Hallows" poster after this. Hopefully, I will, completing the series. But as of now, I only have one suitable screencap of Jake. I don't know what I'm going to do with the other two characters. Thank God the only people in the 7th poster are Harry, Hermione, and Ron. But the fact that they're in a running position makes it quite tough for me to do. As I said, I only have one good screenshot to work with right now. In later times, I might find more. But until then, enjoy these six!
