He was in the same shack as Jake wasnt he? When Jake was saved in the shack there was no one else in there. The scene were Norms Avatar gets killed in battle it shows norm getting out of the link but thats it except at the end of the movie.

Good question! I've wondered this for quite a while, maybe it will be revealed where he actually goes in Avatar 2? Maybe in the deleted scenes.

He most likely went to find his avatar and treat its injuries. There is a shot of him leaving the shack with a gun and something else, possibly a first aid kit. The battle was almost over at this point, so he wouldn't be much help, and the Na'vi might have thought he was on the RDA's side. Avatar drivers were probably trained to go find their avatar in the event that it sustained a serious enough injury to break the link. Notice that Norm's avatar was shot in the shoulder, which usually isn't fatal. At the end of the movie, it's probably recovering at Hell's Gate.

Yeah, Norm definitely leaves the shack with a gun in his hand. The look on his face is of raw fury. I think he at least thought that his avatar was killed and at that point he also probably thought the battle was lost (he would have been out of touch when Eywa turns the tide) so perhaps he was planning to go out in a blze of glory taking as many RDA mercs as he could with him.

I just rewatched the scene, I remember now. It could be something that could be built upon in the second movie.

My thought is he simply went out to keep on fighting.

Norm definitely got hit in the chest too, that's why he came out of link. It only happens when the Avatar is killed.

i think he's not deadth, I think it just was shot in the arm ... (but i really don't know :nembarrassed:) don't kick me please.... :ncry:
im sure Norm went back out to fight. When he got outside, he reminded me of Scarface when his sister, Gina, got killed. He was filled with rage. Too bad we didn't get to see any of his *** kicking in human form.

Yes, norms avatar is hit in the shoulder. (i have the movie on my laptop so i can rewatch scenes at will) however it easily knocked him unconscious breaking the link...as to where norm goes can be speculated but one thing is certain and that is that he is standing next to jake's avatar watching the RDA load onto the shuttles for the last time, so he is definitely still alive and not currently wandering the forrest

The more I watch Avatar, the more I gain respect for Norm. The guy's just a scrawny anthropologist, but he fought like a warrior to save the Na'vi.

They left the bathrooms behind when they hid deeper in the mountains.

Quite true. You could say that he cared about the Na'vi almost as much as Jake, like Norm was seriously pissed when Jake told that he going to learn about Na'vi way of life.

Hmm i was thinking he would have headed back to the base since it would mostly be empty at that point, all the soldiers are off doing battle, so its mainly scientists and personnel there. As a human walking around with a gun and an unknown number of clips, he wouldnt have lasted long in that area. Not to mention Idk how long the oxygen masks last, there has to be some kind of limit on those (unless they managed to somehow convert the poisionous gas atmosphere into oxygen in the box thingy, which i really wouldnt put it past them, but still kinda doubt it).

By the look on his face i think he went back out just to see how many more RDA soldiers he could kill.
Its a shame they didn't give us a glimpse of what he gets up to between coming out of link and hell's gate.

Norm, firing as he retreats, is HIT. He collapses, his avatar
body mortally wounded as --
HYDRAULIC FEET approach, passing the bodies of direhorses and
Na'vi hunters. Norm painfully tries to load another
magazine, panting in fear and pain as --
AN AMPSUIT stomps up. Aims its cannon point blank. B-BLAM!
INT. SHACK
The top of Norm's LINK bangs open. He reels out, collapsing
onto the floor, clutching himself as if he can still feel the
pain of death.
He sits, huddled, shivering -- crazed.
EXT. SHACK
HUMAN NORM emerges from the airlock, wearing breathing gear
and carrying an AR. He stumbles, dazed, toward the battle.
EXT. RAINFOREST - DAY
Norm takes a few steps and drops to his knees. Imploded by
grief.
According to the script, norm returns to the battle without his avatar to witness trudy's suicide run into the dragon ship, which holds Quaritch. Trudy is the one who downs the big ship with Q in it, not Jake but they changed it in the movie.
