Whenever I watch the movie, I always wonder why Jake holds Neytiri's hand as he approaches T'sutey. (spelling?) It was kind of disrespectful, and I think it would have been very awkward to approach someone openly holding hands with, and showing feelings for the person that they had strong feelings for. In Jake's case, I thought it was especially strange because if I recall correctly, he was trying to get T'suteys permission to speak. Don't you think Jake was just asking for T'sutey to come after him? Am I the only one who thinks that Jake should have kept his feelings a little more on the down low in front of him? :p

After Tsahaylu between two Na'vi takes place, the bond and love between them is so strong they really can't bear to not be in contact with one another. They were mated and I saw no disrespect. Also people need to realize that Tsu'Tey wasn't exactly lusting after Neytiri, he was originally supposed to be with Sylwain(totally misspelled), Neytiri's sister, who ended up dying.

She and a few others destroyed and AMP suit, so some of the RDA retaliated and shot up Grace's school and killed a lot of Na'vi, including Neytiri's sister.
That's when relations really went down the tubes.

I also did not know that. I read the script but must have missed that part.
I didn't see Jake holding hands with Neytiri as being disrespectful to Tsu'tey as he was well aware that the two of them had mated. Plus they'd already battled over it and Jake beat Tsu'tey pretty handidly I'd say.

From what I remember from reading the script, Neytiri's sister and a few other students at Grace's school attacked an RDA bulldozer/vehicle/whatever because they were angry about the clear-cutting and open-pit mining the RDA was doing. They then ran to the school, thinking Grace would protect them. She tried, the RDA security jackboots showed up, shot the students with machine guns (and shot Grace, in her Avatar body, of course), killed a bunch of them (Neytiri's sister was just one of the victims) and then relations between the Na'vi and the RDA went downhill from there.

Which is what Grace was referring to when talking with Selfridge
Selfridge (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000610/): Isn't that the whole point of your little puppet show? You walk like them, you talk like them. We build them a school, teach them English, but after how many years the relations with the indigenous are only getting worse.
Dr. Grace Augustine (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0000244/): Yeah, well that tends to happen when you use machine guns on them.

Agree, by that point Tsu'Tey pretty much just accepts there's no getting around Jake and Neytiri. I didn't think it was disrespectful at all Jake holding her hand. I thought it was a rather quietly sweet and loving moment. Jake's just lost Grace and is obviously very shook up over it. Taking Neytiri's hand was a great way to have her close to him in as best could be done in that setting. Clearly he needed her in that moment.

I don't see any disrespectfulness from Jake. I personally think it is one of the greatest scenes to express how much he cares about her. When he takes Neytiri's hand and asks for permission to speak, it gives me a feeling that he wants Tsu'tey to also respect Neytiri and the three of them are a team to fight the sky people.
It's actually one of my favorites scenes, including him taking Neytiri's hand after the speech and running to Toruk.

I think more could be discovered about Sylwanin if you get to play the game.. And I also don't see any disrespect on them holding hands in front of Tsu'tey.. It makes me wonder though if HE was in love with Neytiri at all or he's just really after his duty...

Tsu'tey didn't have a problem with their holding hands, Neytiri sure as hell didn't have a problem with it, more than willingly taking Jake's hand as soon as he approached her, so why should anyone on here have a problem with it?

I'm pretty sure those games aren't canon with the world JC pictured. And I would agree that the relationship between Tsu'tey and Neytiri was more dutiful than passionate. Just using scenes like the end of the "Climbing Up Iknimaya" and Jake's first encounter with Tsu'tey's hunting party as examples.

Agreed -And Neytiri having a slight "Yikes!"-moment before climbing on the Toruk's back :)
