Ahhhh a semi-spoiler!!
Apart from that it's good news to hear WETA are gearing up for a sequel :)
SPOILER:
Not so good news that there's going to be Bug-like things fighting the Na'vi. Seems a bit too far-fetched and well, icky haha. Pandora's got awesome creatures not slimy disgusting carnations from the Alien series!:nconfused:

The whole idea of battling bug aliens just seems so... done.
Like, starship troopers, and of course the alien movies.
I'd prefer it to be some sort of navi vs navi sort of thing, like inter-clan conflict, than navi vs crazy invasive death bugs.

Lets hope James Cameron doesn't include bugs or any more aliens or your ****-up-o-meter is going to reach dangerous levels.

I don't think that the second film will have Na'vi vs Na'vi fighting because the clans were united by the Toruk Makto and seen as the Na'vi are so close to nature and Eywa, I don't think the Na'vi would want to fight other Na'vi.

I already made a thread about the "bugs" coming in Avatar 2 that no one seems to be posting in, save for one:
http://www.avatar-forums.com/avatar-2-news-updates/11226-interesting-tidbit-about-avatar-sequal-marketsaw.html
My theory is whatever happens it might just end up with some exploration into the Na'vi, Pandora, and the entire Alpha Centauri system, perhaps a little beyond that.

if aliens invade pandora or Bugs are fighting the navi i think that would be a terrible decsion by james and would ruin the movie...it would completley change the look on avatar...i really hope these are fake spoliers or just wrong

I agree completely, aliens in the sequel will change the mood and the "feel" of the Avatar series. I was more hoping he'd step a little more into the fantasy side of a sequel rather than making Avatar 2 some kind of sci-fi horror.

or na'vi vs Chuck Norris........
Lol, I hate to say it, I love the Na'vi and all, but chuck Norris? I mean the chief export of chuck Norris is pain, he's counted to infinity... Twice, he can slam a revolving door, and trust me I've tried and failed, putting chuck Norris on pandora would be a bad Idea, unless he was sided with the na'vi, then it would be BEAST, but otherwise it is a bad idea if you want the na'vi to stay alive very long.

Well, considering my favourite movie is Avatar and my second favourite is Starshiptroopers, it should be a great movie for me.
I don't mind if there is bug like enemies, as long as it is well done and keeps the spirit of the first movie.
Which is why I am not som keen on the idea of Na'vi fighting each other. I don't think that would be in the spirit of Avatar. The only way I could see Na'vi fighting each other is if Earth sends an Avatar commando unit. Now that may be interesting.

An inter clan conflict sounds better than this.

I actually think this would make a better prequel than sequel. It would be interesting to see how the clans fought each other and then were brought together in the time of great sorrow. However, I doubt there will ever be prequel, at least in movie form, although you never know.
An inter-clan conflict in the sequel sounds a bit banal to me, considering it is a sci-fi movie. I would still lek to see a continuation of the biology vs technology these. However, that is just my opinion.
In saying that, it doesn't really matter what the movie is about. I will either enjoy it or I wont. And if there is one thing that is guaranteed, is that no matter how good it is, it will not meet everyones expectations and some fans will be dissapointed.

I agree with most of the people in here, I would not like the idea of aliens/bugs in the next movie. All we can do is wait and see. We all know how JC keeps things under wrap.

The Na'vi are to fight bigger aliens? That is stupid.
I hope Cameron does not do this. Maybe if they fight one creature we do not see on Pandora. Like it wonders into the village and they have to kill it. But a whole army of bugs. That is just dumb.

Hmm... I wouldn't have a problem if another sentient alien species was introduced in the Avatar canon. The op in this thread made it sound as though he was worried that the aliens from James Cameron's "Aliens" would be in the next Avatar that would surely be interesting, but I don't think it would go along with this series. It is always kind of neat when one show's aliens or characters end up on another, but other than making for some really interesting chestbursters and fights I really don't think those pesky acid blood xenomorphs should be in Avatar it would also disrupt the canon of another great movie as they were found on a planet which numerical designation is elluding me.
It would be neat to see other alien life forms, with the human and Na'vi teaming up to fight them, but I don't know in the end it's all up to Mr. Cameron.

Maybe Some other advanced alien beings come along looking for a slice of the action, they too come from a dying world or dead world and are looking to strip the planet like a swarm of locusts!
Not only would that be bad for the Humans in the movie, since their world is dying off slowly, but the Nav'i would be pretty far up s**t creek without a paddle too!
The War of Pandora, for Pandora....hmmm :S

.....that would be the ultimate irony in the second movie.
The Nav'i are a nature loving race of people.
The Humans are a militaristic race
Together they are stronger....apart they are just two strangers with nothing in common!
The fate of both species was intertwined from the moment they met....the balance would be to fight along side each other for the sake of both species....and in return much like a beneficial symbiosis of sorts, Humans get what they were looking for and both species become enriched by it.
...of course...that's in an ideal world
