I would love to see Earth Day be a human rights day as well... We cannot live without our Earth, our environment is a human right.

Yeah I completely agree. It is denying a human's right to a secure future by destroying the environment.

In honor of upcoming Earth Day, I am unearthing a poem I wrote last December....

This pretty much explains the way I feel about Earth...
It, and its lessons to us, are of utmost importance.

You got some talent in poetry! That's the first poem I've read related to Avatar.

The tragic part about all of this is that this is not a new concept, it is a very old concept, goes at least as far back as Rachel Carson in the 60s, but more accurately wise stewardship of the environment for the well being of humanity is endorsed by every major religion (except of course, capitalism). But what with the fleecing, -er, I mean green-ing - of America... the concept of environmentalism has been watered down by the media into something about saving random endangered species in remote regions and green consumerism - absolutely pathetic. This diminutization of the movement, I think, is purposely done, for profit and so that no one really discovers the true meaning of environmentalism - and that it boils down to human rights and a life or death situation for us... I think that Earth Day desperately needs to revive the concept that environmental rights are human rights... Does anyone have any ideas about how this concept could be promoted?
