It is clearly one of the worst environmental disasters of the world. It really left with me a profound impression, one of sadness that such a mighty sea has disappeared, he stated.
Hopefully their actions can help restore the Aral Sea to it's former glory.

Very sad only :(
Becoming better stewards of the environment is imperative in EVERY SENSE. Pretty soon it will become a matter of life and death. Let's not get it to that people! But my gut tells me it will have to get that bad before people begin to stop in the tracks to realize how foolish we have been as the dominant species on this planet. The first and foremost thing to do is to curb back the giant corporations and productivity and processes that are killing our planet. Humans are adaptable. We just don't want to do it until it comes to do or die. Sad. Everyone should be taught about the environment before they're taught how to read and write.

This is absolutely crazy, the Aral Sea is like almost gone. I hope they can fix the problem and restore the Aral Sea before it is too late.

i feel that it is already a matter of life and death. Perhaps not for many humans, but definately for wildlife that is being directly affected by our own wastefulness and lack of compasion

I remember hearing about the Aral Sea, but hasn't this been happening for a while now? I mean, it starting shrinking in the 80's I believe. It's still pretty surreal to see the ships rusted and banked on sand dunes on what used to be the floor of an inland sea.

its not like seas havent dried up before.
Ah yes, the Areal sea. Very unfortunate what happenned. It was dried up in order for cotton to be grown. The sea was a very good fishing spot but it was all lost when they dried it up. Salinity went up and lots of fish species went extinct. Hopefully they can save it.
