View Full Version : A small prediction

So what's the betting that this forum goes ape-**** on April 23? Considering how many people posted here that they thought Avatar was gonna be bad based on previews, there must be more who never went at all and decided to wait for the DVD.

Maybe we'd better start making room...

I'm going to holding myself on buying this version and wait for the Special Edition in November. But for this film class that I have after school, Avatar is on our list of films to watch including stuff lie Vertigo and M.

There will most likely be a flood of new members on this forum once the Blu Ray/DVD is out on April 22.

Those who never saw Avatar in theatres are going to be blown away and will fall in love with the movie and the characters. Avatar doesn't need to be seen on the big screen, it will be the exact same experience if not better at home.

The more members we have the better because there will be more people to share our feelings with and they will be able to get anything related to Avatar off their chest. That's what we are here for, to help each other and to talk about Avatar! :nsmile:

We'd better set up the welcome banners:nsmile:

I had thought we might get a few more members once the DVD/Bluray is released, as every time Avatar hits the headlines this forum gets busy, the last time was the academy Awards (or as I call it, the night of the trolls) and even though Avatar lost i think a lot of new members joined (welcome all).

Spot on Sempu, imagine how many people haven't seen Avatar yet, because a lot of people don't go to the cinema and for many people, on DVD will be their first time they see Avatar.
Imagine that, seeing Avatar for the first time again, too right there will be a lot of energy around here.

I still remember mid January if you posted and came back 24 hours later that particular thread would be two pages back. I wonder if that will happen again, who knows.

We'd better tidy the place up for all the new visitors LOL:nparty:

I wonder why there are so many guests that wont make an account....It's not even hard. I still hope we will get more people to sign up :). Even if it's half of the people we would have 500 more members :)

I called this months weeks ago lol. Some of the older people who have just kinda dwindled off are back now with feelings just as strong as the day the say Avatar for the 1st time. I can't lie. Seeing the movie again in Hi-Def was pretty spectacular. I noticed things and sounds that I never noticed in the many times I've gone to the theaters. I'm glad to say my P.A.D. it back! Now that I have the movie and can watch at will. I can keep getting my Avatar fix and avoid all the withdraws now that I can watch it for free! Its like giving an unlimited supply of drugs to an addict :-D

Wait, you can't over dose from Avatar can you?

I think the only thing that will keep the post count here from skyrocketing is that everyone is glued to their screen watching Avatar in an endless loop! People, remember to eat, go to the bathroom, sleep...

You bet! But they will get a second chance when they re-release Avatar in August with 6 minutes more than the original version.

This is probably a good chance for a 2nd viewing. I might watch it at home, but not sure if I would be able to get that much free time at once.

Yes I will apologise in advance for my absence at times next week, if it is noticed LOL:nlol:.

It is true that many members who have been quiet of late are returning which is very good news, I just hope they stay on longer this time, but of course the enthuseasum will wane again before the August re-release in cinemas.
I also give a big hearty welcome to all those retuning and those here for the first time.

BTW Tap have you heard of a catheter, it may be of help, saves those unnecessary trips to the bathroom :nlol:

But I do think the post count has gone up, even if not skyrocketing. And ProfoundHeart and others are back.

I joined recently but not because of the DVD, my fan-dom had been building over time, so I assumed now would be about time to join. :D Though I did spend all of my money on Avatar merchandise a few days ago.

Plus just because the Bluray/DvD is available doesn't mean that everyone has watched it yet, a lot of people will see it at home over the next month more likely.

Many people have stated in these forums over the last few months that when they went to see Avatar, they didn't expect it to affect them like the way it did, so perhaps over the next few weeks the prediction will come to fruition, or closer to, as many more people are exposed to Avatar who normally would not have thought to watch it at the theatres.

Here's hoping that you're right, Sempu and Fko lrrtok. It could be that yet a larger swell of activity is still in store.

BTW, Fko lrrtok, a catheter is a good suggestion. But I think it's easier to simply forget to eat or drink; that way, the need for bathroom breaks eventually goes away.

There we go Tap, a new diet that will be a success for all Avatar fans, we can call it the Avatar diet, only problem it will only work best for the first month after each DVD release.:nlol:

Ha, not to get too off topic here, but maybe my weekend experience can be a caution to others who are enthralled with the recent DVD or Blu-Ray release:

First few loops through the movie, it's great and feels like the first time I saw it. (Annoying bathroom break.)

Next few loops, still awesome and can't get enough of it. (Convince myself that sleep is overrated.)

Next few loops, amazingly the feelings are still strong and I'm mesmerized. (Finally remember to feed my dog and let him do his duty outside.)

Next few loops, getting a bit tired but still loving it. (Finally remember to feed my cat and play with him for some time.)

Next few loops, can't hold my bladder any longer, need to pause movie midway for another annoying bathroom break. (Rest of movie still rocks my socks.)

Final few loops, reluctantly accept that I need to go to work the next day, so bed is a must. (Occurs to me that I don't actually have a cat.)

...
BTW, j/k (somewhat)

I just don't like the movie theaters...over the past 2 years I've declined to go with my friends..Its just how I am now and how I feel about going to the theaters (I hate going really far to find a Imax too because the theater we have here is like 5 minutes away by car 10 by walking but its so cheap and I hate having to see groups coming in in huge groups reminds me of years ago when I would go in big groups lol) Anyway I joined IMMEDIATELY after I watched it on Blu ray....funny didn't think I would actually wake up waiting for my next watch....going to wait till tonight might have friend come by who really wants to see the movie again...hehehehe ;.; I have like 3 buddies over this week that I planned to let come by to watch Avatar with...I feel like the troops getting ready to step (and wheel) onto Pandora for the first time =D

Just curious, NOxplode, why do you have such a dislike for the theater experience? Is it specific to movie theaters, or is it more of a general "I don't really like public gatherings" or "I'm more of a home body" sort of thing? If so, I can probably relate when it comes to sporting events. =)

Hmmm Its not that I don't like public gatherings but I've gotten so comfortable with just staying at home and watching movies with my buddy who also has strayed away from going out to the theaters with everyone, we see everything together. We've gotten so used to that Its just how it has been the past couple years, Its like a routine night at my house or whatever.. It never really occurs to us "Oh this would have probably been crazy in an Imax theater!!" So yeah.. I've only been to an Imax once actually =O
