trusting our leaders is something I'd rather not do, since they are known to be slow in reacting - or, in some cases, slow to stop reacting (e.g. in their reactions to comply to economy's desires rather than dealing with the more pressing matters of ecology).

I know that it's not some printed paper with a $ or € sign on it that'll guarantee my, your and our survival, but rather a healthy world!

Our leaders suck! At least in America, which is probably the most powerful country, the damn corporations have too much say. It's called campaign contributions, basically another word for bribe. The greedy megacorps fund candidate So-and-so's run for office, he has to take the money to run ads on TV. If he wins, he is then beholden to the sponsors, far more than to the voters.

This is NOT democracy! This is plutocracy, government by the richest. Every good decision has been stalled or prevented because some corporate ***hole stood to lose money. People's health, livelihoods and very lives have been harmed endlessly by corporations, because corporations have no consciences whatsoever. From native people killed by mining corps, to Chinese children forced to work in sweatshops, to Americans denied health insurance, retirement, and social security, it is too clear that most megacorps will NEVER have a heart. And they rule the world.

My brothers, sisters! We've kicked the tyrants out before, we can do it again! Kings have gone to the guillotine, we have beaten them before! They have brainwashed us into cowering in fear of them, but it is WE who have the numbers, it is WE who have the power! You, spread the word, tell ALL of the People, all over the Earth! We will stand up, and make THEM fear US!!!

Long live Gaia, and long live the People! :ndevil:

Joey, I'm also going to reposting something... that I wrote in another thread:

I support the patriot movement. I do not support violence, but I support the ideals. The media says there has been patriot violence, but they would do that, wouldn't they? We cannot and we do not believe our media anymore, we have lost faith in it, and now they're trying their hardest to keep us afraid. Well a lot of us are waking up and are no longer afraid of fake boogeymen. The media will say that patriots are terrorists, just like in the 1700s when the establishment called our founding fathers, the American revolutionaries, also terrorists. But who is really a TRUE terrorist, a human being trying to uphold a Constitution and fighting for human rights, being stepped on by corporate interests.... or a tyrannical system made up of corporations that dictate to the government that is supposed to stand up for its people, instead of the corporate bottom line? Another thing that HAS to die in Washington is what is known as the "revolving door" which is allowing people to serve in corporations and then in regulatory agencies of government. Huge conflict of interest. This is disgusting.

Take everything you hear in the media with a block of salt, and support your patriot movements!!!!!

Addition:

And I suspect that as the patriot movements grow it will be even more and more difficult for them to become marginalized and pigeonholed as people from wider and wider demographics join in.

I went to a Coffee Party kick-off meeting. All I can say about them is... um... they are a bit sleepy. They need three or four more shots of espresso to have a real movement. They think that we'll actually be able to work together with our government, when our government has done everything in its power up to this point to not listen to the people. I would really love to believe that it is possible, and I believe that the people who join the movement mean well, but I believe that any kind of big movement ends up being infiltrated by the wrong people. I think what we need more than a movement with a name is to have a lot of grassroots movements under no particular name... a bit like what the Tea Party is doing, but not associating them with any larger party... just local patriot groups...
