Jake says: “Sometimes your whole life boils down to one insane move…” What's he referring to and have you ever felt this way?

I think what Jake was referring to when he said that just before trying to make a connection with the Leonopteryx at that particular time, was that he had made his decision to put his whole life in the hands of the Na'Vi and go against his own race, or rather the people of the RDA.
There have been many times in my life that I have done one insane move, only to have time diminish the effects.
Many of my insane moves have involved doing what's morally right, that is a common denominator I suppose, not that they have turned out good.
I find when you stick to what's morally right in regards to business, you don't get far.
But when you do what's morally right over time in regards to friends and family and workmates you get something really special, their respect.

I think it means that we all make moves that are planned and we think a lot of them are important and mean something. But when something comes up that is life or death and you have to either jump knowing that either you'll make it or you won't or watching that moment pass you by and being at a loss because of it.
Thats what I think it means.

There's a time in your life where, if you want to get anywhere, your only option is to do something extreme. In this case, Jake did something extreme by taming Toruk, becoming the 6th Toruk Makto. It was his only option if he wanted to get anywhere.

I wouldn't even consider it a one-way thing. I'll bet that everyone here had to make a choice that took them in a completely opposite direction from another choice they had. That decision was kind of a pinnacle moment for Jake, as from that point on, there was absolutely no way to turn back.

i think he means that he's about to turn his back on his people and jump on the back of toruk (which is pretty crazy). his whole life changes from that point on and it's a pretty huge decision. Personally i've been in a situation like that one time before when i picked my girlfriend over my family. it was a tough decision but in the end i'm happier for it.

Kaltxi,
What I should have said was, I wished the Toruk scene had been included...where Jake must make the tsaheylu.
